When fitting the cover cap, ensure that the roof lining is not deformed.
If the roof lining around the cover cap is uneven, remove it and smooth
it using the pin.
Make the attachment point for the grille in the roof lining on the other side of the vehicle
in the same way.
How to make the attachment points for attaching the grille to the lining on the sides of
the luggage compartment (hereafter simply referred to as "lining"):
Fig. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13
› Carefully position the template (L) to mark the hole to be drilled in the lining on the sides of
the luggage compartment, as described on the template.
› Use the pin to mark the point where you need to drill.
› Remove the template and put it in a safe place to one side. It can be used later to mark the
position for the hole on the other side of the vehicle.
› At the point you have marked, drill a hole with a diameter of 3 mm.
Please note: Check that the position where you need to drill the hole is
correct by moving the pin with its end inserted into the hole in the
luggage compartment side panel to and fro.
› Use the hole saw to drill a hole with a diameter of 30 mm.
Caution: Only drill the lining. If the hole has been drilled correctly in the
lining, it should match up with the hole in the body panel underneath
the lining.
If the protective coating on the body panel is damaged, a suitable
primer, such as Permacron 3255, must be applied to the affected area
to prevent it from corroding.
› Rivet the rivet nut (J) in the hole drilled in the wheel cover panel.
› To do this, use riveting tongs, e.g. 1765B, order no. ASE 451 499 00 000.
› Clip the cover cap (H) into the square holes (in the wheel cover panel).
Make the attachment point for the grille on the other side of the luggage compartment in
the same way.
Fig. 14, 15
› Place the grille (A) into the luggage compartment. Place the grille on the mounting points
and loosely screw in the plastic-head screws (B, G). Check that the grille is seated correctly
and tighten the screws as far as they will go by hand.
Caution: Ensure that the roof lining, the luggage compartment lining
and the D-pillar trim are not damaged.
Please note: Ensure that the plastic-head screws are positioned
correctly. Screw the short screws into the mounts in the roof lining,
and screw the long screws into the mounts in the lining on the sides of
the luggage compartment.
Visually check that the grille is attached correctly. Place the luggage compartment cover
into the vehicle (fig. 16).
Fold the rear seat backs back into place.
