The Tumi Data Vault is a 500 GB portable hard drive
that is large enough to backup all of your computer
files and compact enough to take anywhere. It
comes with a retractable USB power and data cable
and is enclosed in luxurious leather.
OpERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
The Tumi USB Data Vault can be safely carried in
your pocket or handbag. It can be used like any
other portable media storage device to store, copy,
move, edit or delete files. To use, simply plug the
retractable USB power and data cable into your
computer's USB port, and connect it to the mini USB
port on the DATA Vault.

The Tumi Data Vault's LED will illuminate blue when
the device is ready and orange when data is being
accessed or stored. If you remove the Tumi Data
while the LED is lit orange, there is a risk of losing
data or damaging the device.
USING THE RETRACTABIE USB CABIE:
To Extend: puII both ends at the same time to extend
to one of five Iocking positions.
To Retract: puII both ends at the same time
completely, past the Iast cIick and the cabIe will
automaticaIIy retract.
Operating Hints: Never puII the cabIe from just one
end--this will cause it to tangIe at the center. To
untangIe, first puII it from both ends untiI it is fuIIy
extended. Then, puII again to retract the cabIe. If
the spooI becomes off center, retract fully, and while
holding the cable taught, realign the spool to center
and then retract.
CAUTION: Avoid temperature extremes, shock and
moisture. Do not expose the Tumi Data Vault to
water, direct heat, or strong electromagnetic
sources.
COMpATIBILITY:
The Tumi Data Vault is compatible with:
• Windows 2000/XP/VISTA, Macintosh OS 10.0
and Linux 2.6.
REMOVING THE TUMI DATA VAULT
FROM YOUR COMpUTER:
• Windows 2000/XP/VISTA: Click the "Hardware
Separation" or "Unplug or Eject Hardware" icon on
the tray at the bottom right of the screen. Click "Stop
USB Mass Storage Device." When the "Safe to
Remove Hardware" screen appears, click "OK."
You can now safely remove the Tumi Data.
• Mac OS: Drag the Tumi Data Vault icon to the
trash. Remove the Tumi Data Vault only when the
LED indicator is lit.

Note: Tumi's Data Vault model no. 14377 has been
tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class
B digital device pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference in a residential
installation. This equipment generates, uses and can
radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and
used in accordance with the instructions, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will
not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment
does cause harmful interference to radio or television
reception, which can be determined by turning the
equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to
correct the interference by one or more of the
following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and
receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit
different from that to which the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV
technician for help.
CAUTION: Changes or modifications not expressly
approved by Tumi may void the user's authority to op-
erate the equipment under FCC regulations and must
not be made.

STATEMENT FOR TUMI'S DATA VAULT
Tumi's Data Vault (model 14377) complies with Part
15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the fol-
lowing two conditions: (1) this devise may not cause
harmful interference and (2) this devise must accept
any interference received, including interference that
may cause undesired operation. As defined in Sec-
tion 2.909 of the FCC Rules, the responsible party for
this device is Tumi, Inc., 1001 Durham Avenue, South
Plainfield, NJ 07080, 908.756.4400.
NOTES:
Tumi, Inc. is not responsible for data loss, revision of
the device or other indirect losses resulting from mal-
operation, maintenance or other accidents. Tumi, Inc.
will not be responsible for restoration of the personal
data loss. To avoid problems with this product, keep it
away from magnetic field loudspeakers and magnets.
It is highly recommended that data stored on Tumi's
Data Vault be regularly backed up using other record-
ing media. Do not place this unit in locations that are
extremely hot or cold, very humid, vibrating or exposed
to direct sunlight. Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth or
a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent so-
lution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol
or benzene, which may damage the surface.
