Troubleshooting
Problem
The heat shuts 'OFF'
but the fan stays 'ON'
The heating element is smoking
slightly and there is a
burning odour
The heating element is not glowing
bright red like other heaters
There is no heat or air
flow coming from the heater
The fan maintains the same speed
when the settings are changed

Cause
The fan is designed to run continuously while the heater is
operating; the thermostat is designed to switch 'ON' and
'OFF' to maintain the set temperature
The steel element's protection oil coating is burning 'OFF'
The heating element is made from stainless steel and will
not glow bright red like other heaters
The power to the heater has been shut 'OFF'
The desired room temperature set on the
thermostat has been reached
The area directly in front of the heater is not being heated,
but the room generally is being heated
The fan maintains the same speed when the Thermostat Dial
(6) and the Mode Selector Dial (5) are being changed
The Mode Selector Dial (5) has been turned to the 'OFF'
position but the fan is still running
Storage
• When storing the heater, ensure that it has totally cooled down and is completely dry.
• Cover the heater with a plastic bag and store it in a dry, ventilated place.
Disposal
Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer functional
and are not viable for repair.
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), with
household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct way to dispose of
power tools

If this is the first time the heater has been used, this is normal and the amount of
smoke emissions will diminish in a short time. If it is a constant stream of smoke
and the heater has been used several times, immediately switch the heater 'OFF'
and contact an authorised Silverline service centre
