Indications for use

Provox BasePlate Adaptor ("adaptor") is an accessory product for rehabilitation
®
after total laryngectomy. It allows attaching medical devices with ISO 15 mm
standard connector to a tracheostoma by fitting it into a Provox Adhesive base
plate ("base plate") or Provox LaryTube cannula.
A typical example would be to attach an HME with built-in oxygen adapter
(TrachPhone).
For single patient use.
Contraindications
Shall not be used for mechanical ventilation.
Description of the device
This device is made according to the specifications of standard ISO 5356-1.
WARNINGS
Unconscious patients must be constantly monitored. Attached devices may
inadvertently slide off the adaptor, or the base plate may detach from the
tracheostoma.
Make sure the adaptor is free from oil or any other lubricant before and
during use. Lubrication may lead to detachment of devices from the adaptor,
or of the adaptor from the base plate.
PRECAUTIONS
Read and follow the instructions of the medical device to be used with the adaptor.
Never use force while attaching or detaching devices or the adaptor itself.
Do NOT sterilize! The device is for single patient use only.
Do not use if the device shows any signs of cracking or structural damage.

Cleaning and maintenance

Clean Provox BasePlate adaptor daily as instructed in figure 1-2.
Disinfect the Provox BasePlate adaptor with either hydrogenperoxide 3% for
60 minutes, ethanol 70% for 10 minutes or isopropylalcohol 70% for 10 minutes
at least once a day (figure 3).
CAUTION: Do not use the device until it is completely dry. Inhalation of
disinfectant fumes can cause severe coughing and irritation of the airways.
