Thank you for choosing a Hozelock quality product, you can
be assured of reliable service from this product.
This solar product is designed for use in an outdoor
pond. The solar panel needs to be in direct sunlight for
maximum efficiency.
This solar fountain pump has "solar powered" and
"battery powered" modes and you can use this solar
pump day or night provided the battery has been
charged.
Important
The appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
Do not connect the pump to any AC voltage, it is intended
ONLY for DC Voltage.
Only AA size rechargeable batteries are to be used in this
appliance. Exposure to damaged or ruptured batteries
can be harmful and should be avoided.
If any liquid or residue from the battery comes in contact
with your skin, quickly wash with mild detergent and
water, neutralise with a mild acid such as vinegar and
consult your doctor if necessary. If any liquid or residue
should enter your eyes, flush with clean water and consult
your doctor.
The batteries must be removed from the appliance before
it is scrapped. The batteries are to be disposed of safely,
contact your local recycling centre regarding disposal
methods.
Operate in freshwater only (never above 35ºC), and keep
away from flammable liquids.
Avoid any impacts to the solar panel itself.
Do not let the pump run dry
Make sure the pump body is fully immersed in water.
Use the flexible suction cups to stick it to the bottom of
pond. If the pond is too deep, the pump housing can be
raised off the bottom of the pond with stones or other
support to get the correct height of the fountain head
Installation
A
Install 4 x AA size rechargeable batteries. (Fig.1)
B
Connect the pump cable to the socket of the control
housing. (Fig.2)
C
Assemble stem and attach choice of fountain pattern.
(See Figs. 3 & 4)
D
Assemble and attach the solar panel ground spike.
(See Figs. 5 & 6)
"System ON/OFF"
This turns the pump ON or OFF in the Solar mode. The green
"Solar Power" LED above the button will illuminate when the
system is ON. There is a short delay between pressing the
System ON (Fig. 7) and the fountain emitting water. In this
mode the pump will operate from the solar panel on sunny
days and any excess power from the solar panel will also
charge the batteries.
The product can be left in this System ON mode permanently.
The solar panel is most efficient when pointing directly
towards the sun, but it can be left pointing towards the center
arc of the sun for convenience.
The pump will not work on cloudy days as there is insufficient
power to run the pump.
If the System is OFF the solar panel will charge the batteries if
the sun is bright enough.
"Battery ON/OFF" button
With System On, the Battery ON button can be activated.
The red "Battery Power" LED will illuminate and the pump
will receive power from the batteries to supplement the solar
panel or to fully power the pump.
On bright sunny days the battery can fully charge and the
pump can run for up to 3 hours. On cloudy days the pump
will run for significantly less time. The mode will switch back
to "solar power" automatically when the battery charge has
been discharged.
Low battery
If the battery is flat, the red LED will not illuminate and you
will need to allow the solar panel to charge the battery for at
least 4 hours in direct sunlight without pressing the Battery
ON/OFF button.
Maintenance
Solar panel
The panel should be cleaned periodically with a soft damp
cloth. Regular cleaning of the panel is advised to maintain
optimum conversion of the sun's energy.
Pump
lf the pump starts to lose power or stops working check for
the build up of sediment, scale or dirt in the filter. Remove the
pump and impeller cover and clean with fresh water. (Fig.8)
Replacement Batteries
The rechargeable batteries become less efficient with
repeated charge and discharge cycles. If the battery mode
does not run as long, we suggest you boost charge the
battery. To do this, disconnect the pump for 2 to 3 sunny
days to allow the maximum charge to the battery. If after
this boost charge your battery does not perform to original
standards, the rechargeable batteries should be replaced.
Troubleshooting
Issue
Pump does not
operate even though
the solar panel is in
full sunlight
Solution
Check connection to the solar
panel – Check connection of the
DC pump to the solar panel.
Impeller Blocked – To clean the
pump, remove the cover as above.
Use a small brush or stream of
water to remove any debris.
