Rack Installation Guide
To install the rack kit and the system into a rack cabinet involves the following tasks:

Mark the rack
•
Install the RapidRails in the rack
•
Install the system chassis in the rack
If you are installing the rack kit into a PowerVault 4210 rack cabinet, see the
procedures contained in the Dell PowerVault 4210 Rack Installation Guide.
NOTE: If the RapidRails were preinstalled by Dell, you can skip this section.
You must allow 14 units (U) or 24.5 inches of vertical space for each system you install
in the rack.

Determine where you want to install the system in the rack. (For more
information on configuring a Dell rack, refer to the Dell Rack Advisor software

If you intend to install more than one PowerVault system in the rack, you must
install the RapidRails so that 14 U (24.5 inches) of vertical space are between the
bottom of one slide assembly and the bottom of the next. In the Dell rack, the
rails of the rack are marked either by small indentations in 1-U (1.75-inch)
increments or by numbered 1-U markings on both the outer and inner surfaces of
the front and back vertical rails (see Figure 1-2).
