3. If defibrillator pads are preconnected to the FR3, remove the pads connector.
4. Remove the 3-Lead Cable
from its pouch. Firmly insert
the 3-Lead Cable connector
into the FR3 pads connector
port. The FR3 automatically
prompts you to ATTACH
LEADS and displays the
appropriate lead electrode
placement diagram. See
Figure 3. The display includes
a small green icon to indicate
that the FR3 is in 3-Lead
mode. If the Infant/Child Key
is installed, the display also
includes a pink teddy bear
icon.
5. Open a package of ECG
electrodes and snap the
electrodes onto the
module's colored leads.
6. Remove the protective cover or liner from the ECG electrodes.
Apply the electrodes to the patient's bare chest according to the
labeled, color-coded diagram on the FR3 screen or as trained.
See Figure 4 for electrode placement with pads in place.
7. As soon as the lead electrodes are attached to the patient, the
FR3 begins displaying the patient's ECG. See Figure 5.
The default vector displayed is Lead II. The FR3 displays the
following information on the MONITORING screen:
• ECG tracing (and ECG icon at upper right)
• lead vector in use (text, above the ECG tracing, and vector
number icon next to heart rate, at lower left)
• patient's heart rate (next to heart icon, at lower left)
• time elapsed since the FR3 was turned on (next to clock icon, at
lower right)
TO CHANGE THE LEAD VECTOR DISPLAYED
Press the LEAD I, II... option button to cycle through the three vectors. The name of the selected vector
is identified in text and icon on the screen.
