PROPERTIES OF THE DEVICE
GB
The refractometer is a device which permits to determine
physical properties of liquids by means of measurement of
the coefficient of refraction of light at the boundary of media.
This is how it is possible to determine the level of the charge
of the battery, the temperature of freezing of liquids based
on propylene glycol or ethyl alcohol as well as the tempera-
ture of freezing of windscreen washer liquids.
Before you commence to work with the meter, read the
whole manual and keep it.
Attention! The device is not a measurement device as con-
strued in the „Law of measurements".
EQUIPMENT
The product is delivered complete and does not require as-
sembly. Along with the refractometer the package should
contain a pipette, a screwdriver and a cloth.

OPERATION OF THE DEVICE

Safety recommendations
During work with the aforementioned liquids, it is required
to be careful while using the pipette. Certain liquids may
irritate the skin and the eyes. In case of any contact of the
examined liquid with the skin or the eyes, it is recommended
to rinse the place of contact with running water and then
consult a doctor.
After each use the prism of the refractometer must be rinsed
with distilled water and then dried with the provided cloth.
The pipette must be rinsed with distilled water and left to
dry. The remaining liquids may distort the results of meas-
urements of other liquids.
Measurements of liquids
Draw a small quantity of liquid with the pipette. Lift the
refracting plaque and place 2-3 drops of the liquid on the
prism of the device.
Lower the refracting plaque so that the examined liquid is
distributed uniformly on the surface of the prism. No air bub-
bles should be visible, since they might distort the result of
the measurement. Wait approximately 30 seconds, until the
liquid has reached the temperature of the device, and then
direct the refracting plaque towards a source of light and
look into the lens. If the picture in the lens is blurred, the nit
is required to adjust the sharpness turning the sharpness
adjustments ring. The boundary between the dark and the
light area will indicate the properties of the given liquid, read
out from the adequate scale.
If the subject of the measurement is the electrolyte of the
