Preparations for Operating
Your Stationary Steam Engine
1. Install the smoke stack.
2. Position the drip pan under the boiler and the steam drain.
3. In case water has to be added during operation:
1. Install a hose on the water pump.
2. Prepare a container with water (95 % distilled water, 5 % tap water)
and put the hose from the pump into this container. Tip: Fill the tank
only a little at the beginning. Slight amounts of water can seep out at
the start of the firing up phase for the boiler.
3. Turn the valve to evacuation.
4. Evacuate the air in the pump with
the rubber bellows (not included
with the model as delivered from the
factory) until the water is drawn in.
Note:
The automatic refilling of the boiler
with water should only be done by
people experienced with the operation
of live steam engines. We therefore
recommend that you do without this
function the first few times you operate
the steam engine.
4. Installing the weight for the safety valve. Check the linkage on the safety
valve for free play. Caution: Never loosen the safety valve from the dome
of the steam engine!
