the winch.
After it has tripped, it is necessary to check the installation
and components of the winch (rope, drum, etc.).
On completion of testing, fill out the test report with the date,
installation check data, signature and any remarks (Tab.2). The
test report must be kept by the person in charge of the
site.
- The above-described testing procedure, including the
no-load cycle test 2) and load test 3), must be carried out for
each new installation of the machine.
7. OPERATING AND SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS
- 1) Never lift loads exceeding the capacity of the winch.
- 2) Allow no one to pass or stand under a hanging load.
- 3) Never attempt to lift loads fastened to the ground
(e.g., sunken poles, plinths, etc.).
- 4) Make sure that the load is well secured to the hook of
the winch and always close the safety catch (ref. 5 - Fig. 10).
- 5) If the loads requires accessories for hooking, they
must be certified and type-approved (belts, ropes, slings,
chains, etc.). The max capacity of the winch must be reduced
by the weight of the accessory.
- 6) Make sure that no part of the load can come out
during the lifting phases.
- 7) Before unhooking the load, you must make sure that
it is stable.
- 8) Hanging loads must not be unloaded with accessories
that permit instant release or by cutting the slinging.
- 9) Never move your hands or any other part of your
body near to the drum during operation, they could get
caught up in the rope as it winds and cause severe injury.
- 10) Never move your hands or any other part of your
body near to the counterweight during the lifting phase, they
could get crushed by the revolving jib.
- 11) Never use the machine in bad weather (strong wind
or storms) as the load is not guided.
- 12) The control position and ambient lighting
conditions must permit excellent visibility of the load for the
operator throughout the work cycle.
- 13) Make sure that all the guards of the winch and jib
are in place.
- 14) During operation, check that the steel rope winds
correctly, one turn against the next, without any slack or
overlap that would damage the rope. Should this occur,
unwind the rope and rewind it correctly, keeping it taut.
- 15) Make sure that the lift path is entirely clear of
obstructions and take all the necessary precautions so that
no one can lean out from intermediate floors.
- 16) Cordon off the lower loading area so that no one
can stay there or pass through during lifting.
- 17) Keep children away from the winch.
- 18) When the winch is not being used, do not allow any
unauthorized persons access to it.
- 19) It is prohibited to use the winch for pulling at an
angle greater than 5° to the vertical.
- 21) Never leave a hanging load unattended. Lift it or
lower it and unload it.
- 22) When a load has to be lifted or lowered, control

overheating; if the motor overheats, due to being used too
long in first speed or due to an electric overload caused by a
poor power supply, the cut-out will stop the motor. Cool down
the motor before using it again. Prevent this trouble
recurring frequently.
When the load reaches the required height, disengage the lock
with the handle and turn the jib.
Whenever operation is resumed after a lengthy stoppage (e.g.,
during the night), check the winch before starting to use it by
running a no-load cycle test (as directed in point 2, chap. 6).
