Mounting instructions
1.
Lift off the cover plate as shown in figure 1.
2.
Open the detector by lifting the cover. Remove the
transmitter board and main board. Take care not to touch the
pyroelectric sensor.
3.
Select mounting holes for corner or flat wall mounting. The
detector should be mounted at a height of 1.8 to 3.0 m. See
figure 2.
4.
Use the base as a template for marking screw hole locations
on the wall.
5.
Fasten the base to the wall.
6.
Replace the main board and transmitter board.
7.
Place the battery in the battery holder, observing the correct
polarity. See Installing the battery and setting up the
transmitter.
8.
Replace the cover, insert the screw and replace the cover
plate.
As this is an encrypted sensor, a sensor test must be performed
after the batteries are changed. The panel must re-synchronize

with the sensor after the sensor has lost power. If it does not re-
synchronize, the panel ignores the sensor.
Positioning the detector
Install the detector so any movement caused by an intruder
crosses the detector's field of vision. This is the direction best
detected by PIR detectors. Do not locate the sensor in the
following places:
An area with an excessively metallic surface.
Beyond 30 m of the receiver unit.
On a surface that vibrates.
On a surface exposed to moisture.
Anywhere it is exposed to false alarm sources such as direct
sunlight, heat sources (heater, radiators, etc.), strong air
draughts (fans, air conditioning etc.), animals.
An area where the ambient temperature is below -10°C or
above 50°C.
Setting the range and sensitivity
The wireless PIR provides two jumpers on the circuit board: J1 and
J2.
J1 determines sensitivity and has 2 modes:
Bi-curtain mode (BI) increases false alarm immunity in smaller
areas. The intruder must pass through 2 curtains to trigger an
alarm. Do not use for single curtain applications or for ranges
under 1.5 m.
Standard mode (STD) is used for wide-angle or single curtain
applications. It requires the intruder to pass through 1 curtain
to trigger an alarm. This is the factory default.
J2 determines range and has 2 settings:
16 m is used for detection range up to 16 m.
10 m is used for detection range under 10 m. This is the
factory default.
Range reduction reduces PIR sensitivity in the undercrawl area.
Installing the battery and setting up the
transmitter
The wireless PIR contains a built-in transmitter that is used in
conjunction with a compatible receiver.
There is no address setting required for the PIR. Consult the
appropriate control programming manual for instructions.
To prevent a low battery condition, install batteries as follows:
1.
Ensure all female headers of the transmitter board are firmly
seated in the male headers of the main PIR-board socket.
Note:
Be careful not to bend the antenna.
2.
Observing the correct polarity, insert the battery into the
battery holder on the top side of the transmitter circuit board.
Once the battery is installed, the wireless PIR requires 2
minutes to initialize before it operates.
3.
Walk test the detector to ensure proper operation and
coverage. See Walk testing the detector.
4.
If the control panel indicates a low battery condition,
measure battery voltage. If either battery is less than 3 VDC,
replace the battery and repeat steps 1 to 3.
