OUTDOOR/INDOOR SMART PROGRAMMABLE
LIGHT CONTROL INSTRUCTIONS
This Smart Programmable Light Control can be programmed to automatically turn your light fixture
"ON" at dusk and "OFF" after 2, 5, or 8 hours or at dawn depending how you program it.
It contains a proprietary technology to help accurately determine the correct "off" time in the "dusk to
dawn" setting. This smart technology helps prevent the light turning off too early in the morning, and
also prevents it from staying on too long once the sun is adequately bright.
1. Using the time selector dial, choose your preferred mode.
D = On at Dusk, off at Dawn (flash once when power on)
2 = On at Dusk, off in 2 hours (flash twice when power on)
5 = On at dusk, off in 5 hours (flash 3 times when power on)
8 = On at dusk, off in 8 hours (flash 4 times when power on)
R = On and off randomly during dark hours (flash 5 times when power on)
2. Turn "OFF" the power to the lamp. Install the light control in the light fixture/lamp
socket. Turn until snug. If the photo-sensor is not facing out towards a source of
natural light (ie facing a window or away from house), unscrew the light control slightly until the sensor is
facing the desired direction. The spring plunger will keep contact up to 1 full turn.
3. Rotate photocell opening to face a strong source of daylight, but away from any artificial or reflected
light source such as street lights or car headlights.
4. Now turn "ON" the power to the lamp, light will flash according to your setting.
5. Your Light Control is now programmed.
6. If unit is installed in a dark room and a different light is turned on, the control will turn off the lamp it is
controlling. When the room light is turned off, the control will turn the light on and resume the program.
7. In the case of power failures, the light control will revert to its programmed setting upon restoration of
power.
8. For testing unit during daytime, covering the lens firmly with black tape should light the bulb. For night
installation, once the light has been on for 5 seconds, shining a flashlight at the lens should turn the light
off.
Note: For indoor use, the light fixture should be placed so the Light Control photocell opening is facing a
window less than 3 feet away.
For outdoor use, make sure the light fixture is rain tight.
For use with incandescent, compact fluorescent bulbs and LED 100 Watts or
less if bulb is installed pointing up (see diagram on package). Do not use bulb larger
than 60 Watts if bulb is installed pointing down.
Caution: Do not exceed lamp wattage specified on lamp fixture.
Do not use this control with another light control or dimmer in the same circuit.
Do not use with yellow "bug light" bulb.
