Operation
Thank you for choosing the Berner Cable Finder-Set.
The cable detector has been developed to find or trace telecommunication cables and individ-
ual wires without damaging the insulation. Only cables or lines must be connected that are
deenergized. A temporary AC / DC voltage of maximum 100 Volt (to earth) can be applied for
10 seconds at the measurement lines of the transmitter.
The device operates using a sound generator for safe identification of lines

Volume control for adaptation of the sensitivity and ambient conditions

Maximum length of cable up to 8 km (unloaded)
Read these instructions before use. If the device is not used to manufac-
turer's instructions, the services provided by the device may be impaired.
Operation
Connect the test leads to the pair, or attach one lead to ground and one lead to either side of
the line.
A dual alternating tone or a single solid tone can be selected from the switch of the tone gen-
erator.
Probe the suspected wires with the amplifier probe. Reception of tone will be strongest on the
subject wire. In cases of ready access to bare conductors.
WARNING
The cable detector is voltage resistant up to 100 Volt. However, identifica-
tion of live conductors is not possible. Pay attention to this in order to pre-
vent electric shock.
Checking Coaxial Cables
In order to check coaxial cables, connect the red cable to the screening of the cable and the
black cable to the internal conductor. The red cable can also be connected to the internal con-
ductor of the cable and the black cable to the screening.
Modular Testing (optional adapter)
All tests can also be performed using the optional adapter if necessary.
Flashlight
Turn on the built-in flashlight with the switch.
