Maintenance:
The CP i40 Internal Filter is equipped with a foam cartridge to provide clean and healthy aquarium water. The
selected pore structure provides ideal conditions for the development of colonies of cleansing bacteria which play an
essential role in the breakdown of pollutants and at the same time ensures good mechanical filtering efficiency. The
collection of various micro-organisms on the surface of the cartridges also adds variety to the diet of young fry.
Note: Regular maintenance and cleaning of the filters is vital to prevent any unnoticed reduction in the pump
capacity.
Cleaning or replacement of the filter material
Unplug the filter without fail before any work is carried out on it!
6
1.
Take the filter out of the water and remove the upper cover.
2.
Remove the foam cartridge and wash it under lukewarm water (25 °C). Do not wash the foam cartridge
7
too thoroughly otherwise too many beneficial bacteria will be rinsed away. As a guideline: stop washing the
foam cartridge when only slightly dirty water can be seen when the foam cartridge is squeezed.
8
3.
Place the foam cartridge and cover back in position and put the filter back in its usual position in the
aquarium.
JBL UniBloc i40 replacement foam cartridges are available as accessories.
Prime new or washed cartridges with JBL FilterStart cleansing bacteria.
Note:
Air stones and other air-powered articles become blocked with limescale deposits etc. after a time. Therefore check
the diffuser in the base of the filter from time to time and change if required.
