INSTRUCTIONS FOR DREMEL MODELS 235, 236, & 237 HANDPIECE

ATTACHING FLEX-SHAFT TO HANDPIECE — Align keyed tip of cable with slot in handpiece. Push cable
assembly into rear of handpiece shown in Fig. 1. To remove simply pull cable assembly out of handpiece.
Your tool was designed for use with Dremel handpieces. If using other brands, refer to manufactures
Owner's Manual.

INSTALLING & REMOVING ACCESSORIES — The chuck consists of a collet nut and collet. To change bits
use the wrench and a bit, or the pin provided with Model 236. Insert the shank portion of any Dremel bit
(1/8" shank recommended) of pin through the opening in the handpiece as shown in Fig. 2 or Fig. 3. With
the shaft secured use the wrench provided to loosen or tighten the collet nut as shown. With the collet nut
loose, insert an accessory or bit as deeply as possible to avoid wobble during use. Retighten the collet nut.
Avoid excessive tightening. Aways use Dremel wrench when tightening accessory in collet.

Always be sure that the accessory shank size matches the collet size. Undersize

CAUTION
shanks in collet may lead to bit "ejection" during use, and will damage the collets
and the accessories will not run true.
REMOVING COLLET — Loosen collet nut with wrench provided with handpiece. If collet is too difficult
to remove by hand, insert shank of mandrel, bur or other accessory into collet. Tap side of accessory
shank lightly with wrench provided until collet is loosened. Remove collet. Do not tighten collet nut down
on an empty collet. This may crack or stress the collet, or may cause the collet to stick in the handpiece.
Do not operate the flexible shaft

with a sharp bend (A). This can
generate excessive heat and will reduce tool and flex-
shaft life. The recommended minimum is 6" radius
about the curve of a saucer (B).
DO NOT TRY TO LUBRICATE THE HANDPIECE. The handpiece is permanently lubricated and requires
no lubrication.
Return the handpiece to dealer or directly to the factory for service.
RECOMMENDED SPARE PART TO KEEP ON HAND
MODELS 235 & 237: Set of collets (Part No. 480 (1/8"), 481 (3/32"), 482 (1/16"), and 483 (1/32")).
MODEL 236: Set of collets (Part No. 585 (1/8"), 586 (3/16") and 590 (1/4")).

Only use Dremel accessories (burs, cutters, etc.) rated for use at 25,000
/min or above.

Do not use this handpiece on motors with speeds over 20,000/min.
