Aus technischen Gründen beginnt die elektronische Regelbar-
keit der sera air R Membranpumpen nicht bei < 1 l/h, sondern
bei deutlich höheren Förderleistungen.
Der erzeugte Druck beschreibt hier die Wassertiefe, in welche
die sera air (bei freiem Schlauchende!) hinabpumpt (mind. ca.
1,2 m). Durch Schlauchlängen weit über 3 m, Rückschlag-
ventile, Ausströmersteine, Verteilerstücke etc., kann diese
Leistung deutlich vermindert werden. Auch beschädigte, ver-
schlissene oder verschmutzte Membranen vermindern die
Leistung.
Die Zusammenführung zweier oder mehrerer Pumpenausgän-
ge über Y-Verbinder (nur bei sera air 275 R und 550 R) (Abb. 5)
kann die erreichte Pumptiefe deutlich erhöhen.

Diaphragm pump – sera air 110, and
Electronically adjustable diaphragm pumps – sera air 275 R
and sera air 550 R
The sera air diaphragm pumps are particularly powerful air
pumps. They are suitable for oxygen enrichment by means of
an airstone, for operating air-driven filters (e.g., sera internal
filters L), or for air-driven moveable decorations.
Instructions for use and safety:
• Caution! Disconnect all equipment from the power/mains
supply before touching the aquarium water or handling
equipment!
• Disconnect from the power/mains supply before opening
the diaphragm pump!
• The diaphragm pump must be placed above the water sur-
face (dry and protected against splash water!), but not on
top or directly above the aquarium (fig. 1).
• sera strongly recommends using a sera non-return valve
with each hose connection to prevent danger of water
back-flow (fig. 2). These valves also considerably increase
the life span of the diaphragms and rubber shaft inserts.
• Never leave a sera air diaphragm pump switched on for
more than a few moments without sufficient counter pres-
sure (on one or several outlets), or at temperatures below
5°C. These practices subject the rubber parts to premature
wear and tear, specifically with high performance (ad-
justable versions) pumps.
• Every diaphragm pump may eventually "wander" due to its
own vibration. Avoid this by placing it on a rough, entirely
flat plane. We recommend securing the pump with wire or
string that can be attached to the eye on the bottom of the
casing (fig. 3).
• Do not place within the reach of children!
• Suitable only for operation outside the water!
• Suitable only for pumping air.
• The sera air diaphragm pump must always be placed inside
the house, in a safe, dry place, even when used to oxy-
genate garden ponds (fig. 4).
• Protect against frost!
• High air humidity can cause corrosion of metal parts. This, and
further damage as a result of this, is not covered by warranty.
• Avoid direct sun irradiation and other heat sources.
• Do not touch pump or plug with wet hands, and avoid
splash water!

Garantie:
Bei Beachtung der Gebrauchsinformation arbeitet die sera air
Membranpumpe zuverlässig. Wir gewähren eine Garantie von
24 Monaten ab dem Kaufdatum. Die Garantie ist nur zusammen
mit dem Kassenbon wirksam. Die Garantieleistung erstreckt
sich nur auf das Gerät selbst. Die Garantie erstreckt sich nicht
auf die beweglichen Teile (Membranen) im Gehäuseinneren.
Dies sind Verschleißteile, die regelmäßig ausgetauscht werden
müssen.
Eine Haftung geht nicht über den Kaufwert des Gerätes hinaus.
Für Schäden, die durch unsachgemäße Behandlung und deren
Folgen entstehen, übernehmen wir keine Haftung.
Im Störungsfall wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren Fachhändler.
• If aquarium water has splashed onto, or back-flowed into
the diaphragm pump, disconnect immediately from the
power/mains supply and consult your specialty retailer.
• The sera air diaphragm pump must be used only for the
stated purpose.
• Damages of electric or electronic motor parts, the cord, the
plug, and the casing or deliberate alteration of the parts
must be repaired only by the manufacturer or by an autho-
rized repair workshop. The diaphragm pump must be
immediately disconnected from the power/mains supply
and must not be operated until the damage is repaired.
What to do if performance of the sera air decreases?
If performance of the sera air decreases, check the connected
filter, airstone, or air hose for clogging, and the air hose for
kinks. If all are in working order, check the air filter of the
diaphragm pump (located at the bottom of the pump). If this
also is not clogged enough to affect performance, it is likely
that the diaphragms are worn out.
Depending on the surrounding temperature and load, each
pump model requires a diaphragm replacement every 6 –
12 months. Diaphragm sets are available separately.

The diaphragm sets for the sera air 275 R and 550 R are identi-
cal. The sera air 550 R contains two sets.
If only a single set requires replacing in the sera air
550 R, you can install item no. 6732 (for sera air 275 R). For best
performance and balance of load requirements, sera recom-
mends replacing both sets at the same time (1 pc. item no.
6734). For pumps with several outlets, we recommend replac-
ing all the membranes at the same time.
Caution! Disconnect from the power/mains supply before
opening the diaphragm pump!
Advice for minimizing noise:
The sera air diaphragm pump was developed according to the
latest research, and is equipped with a particularly thick wall
and sound-absorbing casing. However, even under optimal
conditions, operating noise may be audible, especially in quiet
rooms at night.
Every diaphragm pump produces an audible vibration and
hum noise. This can be minimized by providing counter pres-
sure. To enable this, use a safety valve. A hose clamp or a regu-
lator valve that reduces airflow also considerably reduces the
sound.
