INSTRUCTIONS ON USE
FIG.1

2.- Connection terminals

4.- Selectors
5.- Securing holes
DESCRIPTION
The CIRCUMAT MINI proximity switch captures invisible infrared emissions from people
and other heat sources without emitting any form of radiation.
When a heat source moves below the CIRCUMAT MINI, its output circuit is activated.
When it no longer captures the movement, it will deactivate after an adjustable delay
time.
The proximity switch reacts only when light conditions are below the selected level.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: Electric apparatus assembly and installation must only be carried out by an
authorised installer.
ALL POWER MUST BE SWITCHED OFF BEFORE INSTALLING THE UNIT.
The unit is internally protected against interference by a safety circuit. However, certain,
especially strong electromagnetic fields could alter its operation, for which reason it must
not be installed near inductive fields (motors, transformers, transformer substations and
industrial machinery etc).
INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION
On the ceiling, avoiding highly reflective surfaces in its detection area (liquids and marble
etc), elements subject to brusque temperature changes (heaters, air conditioning and air
currents etc) or light sources. The detection area depends directly on the installation
height according to FIG.2.
The installation of any proximity switch must take into account that detection is produced
by the crossing of its detection beams and therefore, if the heat source to be detected is
moving parallel to the beams, the detection is produced at less distance because it will
not cross the beams until it is very close to the unit (FIG.3).
Remove the front cover as shown in FIG.4. Remove the cover from the wire inputs that
are to be used. Fix the unit to the ceiling using the two supplied screws through the drill
holes. Connect the wires to the terminal screws in accordance with the wiring diagram of
FIG.5.
PUTTING INTO OPERATION
After connecting the unit, the system should be checked during sixty seconds
approximately, after which time the unit is ready to operate and the selected adjustments
can be made.
With the cover removed, three selectors are available for the various adjustments that
can be made to the CIRCUMAT MINI. FIG.7
DETECTION INDICATORS
A red LED indicates the CIRCUMAT MINI status as follows:
• Flashing: the proximity switch is in "STAND BY" and ready to detect movement.
• Off: lighting conditions are above the programmed value.
• Fixed On: the unit is detecting movement.
ADJUSTING THE DETECTION FIELD:
The ambient temperature in the location where the CIRCUMAT MINI is installed, can
have quite an influence on the detection sensitivity and hence, on the detection distance.
With increasing temperatures, the detection becomes poorer, because the unit operates
by detecting the movement of a heat source (in the majority of cases, the 36 ºC
temperature of the human body), the closer the ambient temperature is to 36 ºC, the
poorer the detection.
The detection field is adjusted as follows:
Set the SENS selector to maximum, the LUX selector to the ☼ position and the TIME
selector to minimum.
Move within the detection field limits to verify coverage. The limits of this field can be
varied using the SENS selector.
ADJUSTING LUMINOSITY. The CIRCUMAT MINI proximity switch can be adjusted so
that it operates only when lighting conditions are below the selected level. Setting the
LUX selector to the ☼ position will cause it to operate under any lighting conditions. Turn
it to the
position and it will only operate under low lighting conditions.
ADJUSTING THE CONNECTION DELAY
Turning the TIME selector enables the load switch-on to be fixed between the following
values:
• Position
: On for 1 second, Off for 9 seconds. Minimum time.
• Positions 3 seconds to 30 minutes: On for 3 seconds, 15 seconds, 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30
minutes (maximum time).
The 3 second to 30 minute times are reinitiated with each new capture.
Replace the front cover, taking care to make the index marks coincide on both parts.
