WARNING: Always wear proper personal
protective gear when operating hydraulic
equipment.
WARNING: Make sure that all system components
are protected from external sources of damage,
such as excessive heat, flame, weld spatter,
moving machine parts, sharp edges, and corrosive
chemicals. Do not expose hoses to excessive temperatures
(Refer to Table 1 for temperature range).
WARNING: NEVER make or break hydraulic
connections while the system is under pressure.
Couplers should be pressurized only when
completely connected, and should not be coupled or
uncoupled when pressurized.
WARNING: Do not handle hoses while under
pressure. Keep away from oil leakage. Replace
any leaking or damaged hoses immediately.
WARNING: Highly pressurized hydraulic oil escaping
through a small hole can penetrate or cut the skin.
Serious personal injury and possible blood poisoning
can result. If oil is injected under the skin or if
lacerations occur, seek immediate medical attention.
WARNING: NEVER apply pressure to the back of
an uncoupled (disconnected) male coupling. All
male
couplings
corresponding female coupling or blanked-off
before pressurizing.
WARNING: Always use caution when pressurizing
a system. Observe the pressure gauge at all times
and be ready to shut-down the pump. Pressure
can rise faster than you think.
WARNING: NEVER leave a pressurized system
unattended.
WARNING: Never stand in-line with the axis of a
hydraulic actuator while the equipment is under
pressure. Serious personal injury could result if
parts loosen or break and become projectiles.
WARNING: Do not use hydraulic hose to carry
hydraulic components such as pumps or cylinders.
NOTE: Use only the manufacturer's recommended fluid. Do
not mix fluids in a system. Use only fluids that are compatible
with system components, or seals and hoses will be
damaged. Synthetic and fireproof fluids require special seals
and hoses. Contact the nearest authorized service center or
the manufacturer for recommendation.

4.0 INSTALLATION

4.1 Hydraulic Hoses

1. Before operating, visually inspect the system.
2. Check to be sure there are no cracks, kinks, cuts, or other
damage which might cause the hose to leak.
3. Make sure all hose ends, couplers, or union ends are clean
and threads are in good condition.
4. Hose should not be twisted or bent too sharply. The bend
radius should not be less than the Minimum Bend
Radius (refer to Table 1) for your hose type.
5. Do not drop heavy objects on hose. A sharp impact may
cause internal damage to hose wire strands.
Applying pressure to a damaged hose may cause it
to rupture.
6. All hose connections must be tight and leak free. However,
be especially careful not to overtighten threaded hydraulic
fi ttings when making connections. Excessive torque may
result in premature thread failure and may cause high pressure
fi ttings to split at a pressure lower than rated capacity. When
connecting quick disconnect fi ttings, be sure the fi ttings are
completely fastened together.
7. Carefully inspect the hose outer covering for damage. Cracks
or cuts in the covering can allow moisture entry, resulting
in corrosion of the hose's wire strand reinforcement. This
corrosion will weaken the hose, increasing the chance
of a rupture.
4.2 Fittings
The following guidelines should be followed whenever fi ttings are
a
used in high pressure hydraulic systems operating at or above
1500 Bar [21,755 psi]:
1. Take care that threaded fi ttings are not cross-threaded.
2. DO NOT use Tefl on tape on threaded areas. The threads
must make solid metal-to-metal contact to prevent leaks.
WARNING: Use of tape or sealing compound on
threaded fi ttings of 1500 and 2000 Series hoses will
cause hydraulic fl uid leakage. Serious personal injury
can result if pressurized hydraulic fl uid penetrates the skin.
3. Eliminate vibration as much as possible. Vibration and
system shock-loads are the primary cause of fi tting leaks.
4.3 Maintenance
This section refers to components commonly found in a hydraulic
system.
General
1. Keep the components clean at all times. Many hydraulic
service problems are caused by dirt and/or metallic particles
in the hydraulic system. To avoid these problems, the
use of proper maintenance including rust prevention and
cleanliness will help extend the life of your hydraulic system.
2. Use only an approved clean hydraulic fl uid. Change fl uid as
recommended by the manufacturer. Change fl uid more often
if unit is used under extreme conditions.
3. Change or clean the fi lter in the system periodically if one is
used.
