Putting the steering system into operation
Before starting up the vehicle, use a diagnostic tester that is suitable or recommended by the vehicle
manufacturer to perform the following:
Program vehicle characteristic curve
Set vehicle-specific special features (see table)
Vehicle-specific special feature
Malfunction indicator light (one/two colors)
Driver Steering Recommendation (DSR)
Park Steering Assistant (PSA)
Torque Steer Compensation (TS)
Heading Control Assistant (HCA)
Hybrid (off/on)
Charisma
Steering angle sensor
Calibrate internal steering angle sensor:
Requirements:
Front axle is measured and set
Ignition and engine on.
Vehicle stationary and wheels in straight-ahead position - on an axle measuring bench.
Steering angle sensor is activated.
Calibration
1. Turn steering wheel +/- 30° from straight-ahead position.
2. Return steering wheel to straight-ahead position.
3. Select adjusting channel 60 as the base setting.
4. Steer to the left and right of the center position until the steering angle sensor indicates the status
"calibrated".
5. The values are saved when you switch the ignition off.
6. Calibration is now completed.
Measuring calibration of the ZF Servolectric:
Measuring is necessary to re-set the software end stops (reduction/switch-off points of the electrical
assistance on the axle end stops).
Requirements:
Front axle measured and adjusted.
Ignition and engine on.
Vehicle stationary and wheels in straight-ahead position - on an axle measuring bench.
Steering angle sensor is activated, initialized, and calibrated.
Read off measuring value block 7 (data from steering angle sensor).
Calibration status and steering angle sensor status are OK or initialized.
