Cascade Quick Start Guide
Cascade Gateway
The Gateway is deployed in a local or remote network to receive traffic data from NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX, or Packeteer
FDR sources. It aggregates the data, compresses it, encrypts it, and then transmits it to up to five Cascade Profiler or
Cascade Express appliances. Additionally, it can forward flow data in its native format to up to five other destinations.
Cascade Profiler
The Standard Profiler and the Enterprise Profiler receive traffic information from Cascade Sensors and Gateways.
They analyze network behavior, report current and historical network usage, and alert you to significant changes in the
behavior of the network or individual elements of the network.
Cascade Express
The Cascade Express includes the functions of the Sensor, Gateway and Profiler within a single appliance. It is used
for smaller deployments that do not require the capacity of the Profiler.
The Cascade Express monitors traffic from taps or mirror ports on the monitored network, or obtains traffic
information from NetFlow, IPFIX, Packeteer FDR or sFlow sources. It analyzes network behavior, reports current and
historical network usage, and alerts you to significant changes in the behavior of the network or individual elements
of the network.

Physical Requirements
All Cascade network appliances use the same hardware chassis. The network interface connections differ from one
another, depending on the product and the model. However, the hardware chassis specifications for all products are as
