2. If the appliance is a Cascade Sensor or Express, also connect cables from the tap or mirror ports on the monitored
network to the network monitoring ports, which are labeled Mon0 and Mon1. Some models also have Mon2 and
Mon3 connectors.

Verification

Where practical, verify Sensor or Gateway installations before verifying Profiler or Express installations.
Sensor and Gateway Installation Verification
1. Ensure that the appliance is receiving traffic. For a Sensor, there must be traffic on the tap or mirror port that the
appliance is monitoring. For a Gateway, at least one device must be sending flow data to the IP address of the
Gateway and the port you specified on the Setup page.
2. Point your browser to the IP address that you specified for the appliance on the Setup page. This displays the login
page.
3. Log in to the admin account with the password that you specified at the end of the configuration task.
4. Observe the Overview page. On a Sensor, the Overview page shows traffic information about the monitored
network. On a Gateway, the Overview page identifies all traffic information sources that are currently sending
flow data to the Gateway.
5. Go to the Configuration > Profilers page and specify which Profiler or Express appliance is to receive traffic
information. (This is necessary to verify Profiler or Express installations.)
6. Click Add New Entry to open a blank entry for specifying a destination Profiler or Express.
7. In the Profiler IP Address box, enter the IP address of the management interface for an Express or Standard
Profiler, or the address of the first Expansion Module for an Enterprise Profiler.
8. Click Configure Now at the bottom of the page to apply the settings.
Profiler and Express Installation Verification
Verifying a Profiler or Express installation includes verifying that it is receiving data. If the appliance is to receive data
from a Sensor or Gateway, set the Sensor or Gateway to send traffic information to the Profiler or Express management
interface as described in the previous procedure. Then verify the installation as follows:
