Charging batteries:
First, connect the mains adapter to an ordinary domestic power socket. The red LED
on the mains adapter and the green LED on the charge controller will light up if the
power supply is correct. The charge controller should now be connected to the battery.
Charging up a completely empty battery takes about three hours, and while this is
going on the green LED on the charge controller will flash continually. The charging
process is monitored by a micro–controller, which uses the "∆U" charging process as
this guarantees exactly the right battery charge. Once the battery is fully charged, the
charging unit will switch over automatically to "maintenance" charging, and the green
LED will now shine continuously. This means that it is impossible for the battery to be
over–charged.
General instructions:
The charging unit must only be used for charging NiCd battery packs, product
no. 35537, from fischertechnik.
It is quite normal for the charging unit to warm up during operation.
After you have been using the battery, do not charge it at once – allow it to cool down
first.
If the mains adapter is disconnected from the mains, disconnect the charge controller
from the battery as otherwise the battery would slowly discharge.
Caution!
This charging unit is not a toy! Children (aged 8 to 14 years) should only use it under
an adult's supervision and after having been carefully taught how to use it.
The charging unit must be checked regularly for possible damage to the lead, housing,
and plugs.
If the unit is defective it must not be used!
Protect the unit against damp and humidity.
Do not attempt to charge non–rechargeable batteries.
Guarantee conditions:
There is a 6–month guarantee on the charging unit, counting from the date of sale,
subject to the following conditions:
fischertechnik guarantees to rectify faults free of charge if they are attributable to
defective materials or workmanship. Any malfunction or damage caused by tempering
or improper use are not covered by this guarantee. fischertechnik shall be free to
decide at its own discretion whether to meet its guarantee obligation by replacing the
defective part or the whole unit. No claims shall be entertained over and above the
foregoing. Guarantee claims shall only be met if proof of purchase (the retailer's
cash–desk receipt) can be submitted.
