INTRODUCTION TO THE TOY
A Talking Toy: From the very first months of life, the newborn baby is able to listen and demonstrates that it can recognise sounds. This
talking toy will allow baby to become familiar with language sounds in an easy and natural way, while the different activities of the
book will hone its capacity to recognise them. Listening repeatedly to the nursery rhymes will stimulate baby's communication skills,
making learning playful and fun.
A Bilingual Toy: It helps baby to discover the sounds of a foreign language. The book is fun and easy to use, and is ideal to approach the
sounds of a foreign language in an informal, natural way. It helps the child to develop a correct linguistic attitude, which is so important
at later stages of learning at school.
Why Nursery Rhymes Are Important: Rhythm and musicality are two of the principal characteristics of every language. Nursery
Rhymes therefore allow baby to learn the sounds of its mother tongue or of a foreign language without effort, in a phase in which it is
not yet able to make a correct literal translation.
HOW TO USE THE TOY
How to Switch On the Toy
To activate the electronic functions of the toy, move the switch located on the rear of the booklet from the OFF to the ON position
(see diagram A). The book will say: "Hi, let's play?" to confirm that it is switched on.
How to Select the Desired Language
When the toy is switched on, the switch is positioned on the mother tongue (1). If the child wishes to play with the foreign language, it
is sufficient to move the switch from the top to the bottom (2). The book will say: "Hi, let's play?" to confirm that the foreign language
is activated.
Talking Activities
• By pressing the musical note on the cover (3), located under the face of the puppy, baby will listen to the nursery rhyme in which the
puppy introduces itself:
"Woof Woof, Brownie is my name,
and playing is my game.
Follow me through,
see the stories I've for you."
• By turning the ball on the first page (4), baby will listen to a nursery rhyme in which Brownie the Doggie invites its rabbit friend
to play:
"A coloured ball is rolling fast,
as we play upon the grass.
It is always very funny,
to play with my friend Bunny."
• By sliding the butterfly on the second page (5), baby will discover the many friends of Brownie the Doggie, while it is bathing in the
lake:
"The butterfly is in the sky,
and the frog leaps on by.
Watch as I jump in the lake,
now the fish are all awake"
• By pressing the doggie's bib, on the third page (6), baby will listen to a cheerful nursery rhyme, telling about the doggie's and rabbit's
meal time:
"Munch munch munch,
now off we go to lunch.
Carrots and biscuits are so yummy,
when they get into your tummy."
