Installing your Heater to a Controller:
Unless your heater is specifically designed with an internal temperature controller,
then you must connect the heater to an external temperature controller.
Your heater is designed to operate at a specific voltage. Please refer to the lead wire
label for the rated voltage, current and wattage information. Failure to operate the
heater at the specified rating could result in damage to the heater, the surface being
heated, the product being processed or personal injury.
All electrical connections must be made by qualified personnel and in accordance
with all applicable codes and regulations.
Earth ground should meet local codes.
Ensure the heater is protected by a properly sized circuit breaker or fuse.
Use of ground fault circuit interrupters is highly recommended and may be required in
many locations.
Your Cloth Heating Jacket will be provided with one of the following three types of wiring
configuration (unless otherwise specified):
Type 1: Leads with Plug and Jumpers with Connector
If your heater has both a lead and jumper, it is designed to interconnect with one or more
heaters (see Figure D).
1.
Connect the connector (jumper) of the first heater to the plug (lead) of the second.
2.
Repeat Step 1 until all of the heaters for a zone are connected.
3.
If your last heater has an unused connector (jumper), an end cap is required to
prevent accidental electric shock.

Type 2: Leads with Plug
If your heater has a plug, then simply connect the heater to
a temperature controller. In most situations, your heater will

have BriskHeat's
standard 3-prong plug (See Figure E).
The center pin of the plug is the ground.

Type 3: Bare Leads
Cloth Heating Jackets provided with bare leads will have either:
A cord with three wires.
Three lead wires within a sleeving.
Two wires within sleeving.
These wires may be fitted with a plug or hardwired to a temperature controller. To prevent
electrical shock, the ground wire (green) of the heater must be connected to ground. If no
ground wire is present, it is the responsibility of the end-user to properly ground their
system. BriskHeat
power wires may be hooked up to hot(s) or neutral.
NOTE: Do not allow the total amperage of the interconnected heaters to exceed the
capacity, the controller, or the circuit breaker.
