When working with this device wear the following safety equipment: Safety goggles, sturdy shoes,
ear protection, hairnet (for long hair), apron and helmet if necessary. The installation surface for the mag-
netic base must be flat, clean and stainless. Remove layers of paint and filler. Do not carry out electric
welding work on the work piece on which the metal core drilling machine is used. Before all work,
install the coolant system to assist cooling.
Persons with a pacemaker or other medical apparatus may only use this machine with the prior consent
of a doctor!
Never reach into, or touch rotating parts! When the motor is running keep hands and fingers away from
the work area, injury risk!
CAUTION: Make sure to read before using the machine.
The magnetic drilling machine may only be used for the intended use.
Use as a solenoid is dangerous and inadmissible in any case. Misuse entails danger for man and machine.
Structure
The magnetic drilling units consist of the device components drill stand and drill drive. The components
are permanently connected to each other and cannot be operated individually or separately.
The drill stand is made of cast aluminium and contains all important electrical and mechanical controls.
The magnetic drilling units are equipped with high-performance electromagnets, as well as a self-starting
lock for the drill drive. The magnetic drilling units comply with protection class I with protective conductor
according to IEC 745. The drilling drives, which were developed in compliance with DIN VDE 0740 and
IEC 745-1, are radio interference suppressed according to EN 55014 and EN 61000 and designed for
continuous operation. The sound pressure level at the workplace may exceed 85 dB (A). In this case
noise protection measures are required for the operators. The noise emission values of our magnetic
drilling unit are based on DIN 45649 part 2, DIN 45635 Part 21 and DIN EN 27574 (ISO 7574). Magnetic
drilling units with fine positioning - only on suitably equipped machines - allow precise setting of the drill-
ing tool in any position within the adjustment range. The drill drive is precisely guided by the adjustable
dovetail guide with wear-resistant brass guide rails. A smooth, even feed is thus guaranteed. The drill
feed is carried out manually via the handle bars.
Use of the magnetic drilling unit F10
The magnetic drilling unit is designed for drilling work pieces with magnetic properties for any working
position, horizontally and vertically. Loose rust and scale as well as paint and filler layers must be
removed. When drilling material thicknesses of less than 15.0 mm, a steel plate of appropriate thickness
should be placed under the work piece to be machined so that the electromagnet can better develop its
magnetic holding force. Never place the switched on magnetic drilling unit on insulating materials
(e.g. wood, concrete, etc.). The insufficient heat dissipation can lead to overheating and destruction of
the electromagnets. Always remember that the magnetic force is not maintained in the event of a mains
interruption (power cut, pulling the mains plug). The magnetic drill must not be used on work pieces
while arc welding work is in progress. The welding current could damage the machine.
