At a suitable, level place in the area of the tail end piece of the spare tyre storage space, drill a hole
of 20 mm diameter, trim it off, treat it with anti-corrosion agents and allow it to dry.
2.2. MPV
Remove the loading gate panelling.
Open the car jack storage space at the left side of the boot.
Detach the left and right lateral boot panelling at the rear.
Tip down the moulded foam element of the right-hand lateral boot panelling.
Detach the boot carpeting at the rear and lift it.
Dismount the spare wheel and tyre (external mount) and lower it.
Remove the cover of the opening for the cable harness leading to the trailer socket, in the boot floor
right in front of the lock housing – diameter 12 mm.
Drill open this opening to a diameter of 20 mm, deburr, treat with anti-corrosion agent and allow to
dry.
3. Install 8-wire cable set and socket
Lay the 8-pole cable end with connector sleeves through the conduit drilled under point 2 from the
boot outwards and further till the hole in the holder plate for the plug.
Slip the enclosed rubber washers for the plug on to the cable wire end.
(Use suitable sliding medium)
Press the contact insert out of the enclosed socket.
(Open cover; contact is only held in place)
Connect the contact insert in the socket as follows:

Replace the contact insert into the socket casing and lock into place and push the rubber seal onto
the socket and attach the socket to the support plate with the enclosed nuts and bolts.
CAUTION!
a) When installing the socket ensure that the connecting cables are not pinched and cannot be
damaged and/or block the mechanical lifting of the contact plate!
b) Ensure that seals are fitted properly! The seal at the cable outlet from the socket must fit on the
insulating tube, not only on the individual wires!
c) Lay the cable set so that no chafing can occur!
d) Do not lay the cable set near the exhaust system!
Position the rubber socket mounted on the wire set and inserts it into the conduit hole towards the
boot.
