The original USB media socket for Apple should be fitted by an authorised workshop. Incorrect fitting may result in
damage to the vehicle or to the USB media socket.
◆
After fitting the USB media socket, a software update (coding) must be carried out on the vehicle. This software
update has to be carried out by an authorised workshop. Incorrect handling may lead to damage to the vehicle.
◆
The work to be performed on the vehicle, as described in these installation instructions, may vary in some
circumstances as a result of model improvement measures. As such, changes to the wiring colours or even the
fitting locations cannot be discounted. In view of this, please ensure that you always use the appropriate current
circuit diagram or the current vehicle workshop manual.

modifications.
1.1 Replacing the USB socket
Remove the vehicle's USB socket (connection for external multimedia devices).

Replace the connector housing -4- of the vehicle wiring harness with the connector housing from the scope of
delivery as follows.

Pull out the coloured locking devices -1- and -3-.
◆
If necessary, pull out the locking devices from the connector housing from the scope of delivery.
◆
Unlock the HSD connector -2- and pull out of the vehicle's connector housing -4-. Engage HSD connector -2- in
the connector housing from the scope of delivery.

Press out the supply wire from chamber
supplied connector housing.
◆
Press out the supply wire from chamber
supplied connector housing.
◆
Insert the coloured locking devices into the supplied connector housing and engage.
Install the USB socket from the scope of delivery in the vehicle and connect with the newly configured connector.

1.2 Coding the control units
Notice
◆ It must be ensured that the open-circuit voltage of the vehicle battery is at least 12.5 Volts. To maintain the on-
board voltage during the procedure, connect a -VAS590X- battery charger.
◆ The request for the vehicle configuration (SVM code) only occurs once if the procedure and test operation is carried
out without any errors. Unprompted multiple requests may generate error messages and have no effect on the
configuration.
When the ignition is switched off, connect the vehicle diagnostics tester with ODIS Service to the vehicle
diagnostics socket.
Switch on the ignition.
Select the "Start diagnostics" mode and identify the vehicle.
After interrogation of the control units, switch to "Special functions", select "Adapt software" and enter the 5-digit
action code "3D037" for conversion/retrofit actions.
After the code is entered, the online connection is created and the software update carried out.
End diagnostics.
