General preparation for sowing
z Prepare a fine "tilth".
z Straight and accurate seed drills.
z Prepare Sow Master for sowing.
z Sowing.
z Cover seeds with a thin layer of soil.

Note:
Even spacing of seed results in strong
healthier plant growth. Access to air and
sunshine is assured. It also saves seed
and eliminates the need of thinning out
young plants afterwards.
The Sow Master makes sowing easy:
z also small seed can be sown at the correct
spacing.
z sowing is possible in exact and continuous
rows.
z the distance between seedlings can be va-
ried by adjusting the gearing of the drum;
You can, for instance, set the spacing bet-
ween maize seedlings at 10 cm or that of
peas at 3 cm without having to change the
aperture ring.
z there is a choice of three aperture rings wh
ich are interchangeable for sowing different
sizes of seed.
–
Black ring: use for large seeds (5 to 12
mm diameter) like peas, beans and mai-
ze
–
Yellow ring: use tor medium sized seed
(3 to 4,5 mm diameter) like spinach, bee-
troot, lettuce (sow smaller lettuce seed
using red ring)
–
Red ring: use tor small sized seeds (1 to
2,5 mm diameter) like carrots, radishes,
onion

Change of aperture ring
1. Hold Sow Master in left hand and turn
aperture ring anti-clockwise up to stop and
lift out of housing.
2. Remove required aperture ring from back
of drum by pulling out of position and place
it into front of drum. Turn clockwise to the
stop.
Select spacing between seeds
z Depress yellow button completely (1): wide
distance (for instance maize = 10 cm).
z Pull out button completely (2): short dis-
tance (for instance peas = 3 cm).
z Pull out button half way only (3): no seed
distribution.
z For easier adjustument of gear adjustment
shake tool slightly whilst operating the yel-
low button (4).

E
1. Fill seed container with seed and close lid
by pushing it clockwise to the stop.
2. Place drive wheel on right edge of the pre-
pared seed drill and push slowly forward at
walking pace. Do not pull backwards. Start
about 10 to 30 cm in front of seed drill de-
pending on chosen seed distance.
1
Attention!
If due to the natural shape of the seed
used the drum should become blocked
and the drive wheel will not roll properly
(this may occur with large seeds).
z pull Sow Master backwards 1 or 2 in-
ches to clear the aperture ring and re-
sume lorward rolling.
z When using small seeds and small
quantity of seeds place them on the left
side of the container, just above the de-
flector pad.
z It is possible that very small peas (5-6
mm) may occasionally be carried in
two's within one aperture hole.
