•
The PIR 1 can be used on all Smeg ovens except in the following cases:
•
Gas ovens, microwave ovens (it can only be used with conventional functions, never with
microwaves) and steam ovens (the specific casserole is already supplied).
•
The PIR 1 can be used for both conventional and steam cooking procedures.
•
CONVENTIONAL COOKING:
•
Place the PIR 1 on the bottom of the oven or on its shelves and/or trays, depending on the
chosen function.
•
STEAM COOKING:
•
Place the PIR 1 on an oven shelf and then insert it and the shelf on the bottom or next-to bottom
level.
•
Pour 30 cl (about 1 glass) of water into the bottom of the pan (fig. 1/A), taking care to fit the grille
(fig. 1/B) into the casserole.
•
Arrange the foods for cooking on the grille and close with the glass lid (fig. 1/C).
•
Select the function and temperature required.
•
The PIR 1 can also positioned at different heights in the oven using the shelves and/or trays
provided.
•
RECOMMENDED TYPE OF WATER FOR STEAM COOKING: Natural mineral water is
essential; tap-water is also acceptable if it has been treated with a water purifying/softener
system.
•
ATTENTION: If the oven door has to be opened during operation, take care to leave it open for
as short a time as possible to prevent a drop in the oven temperature which will impair the
cooking results.
•
To clean the casserole and the steel grille, use hot water and washing-up liquid. Do not use
scouring pads and abrasive detergents.
•
After cooking particularly fatty foods (fatty pork products, lamb, poultry, etc.) clean the steel parts
as described above, repeating the procedure several times in case of especially greasy dirt.
•
The glass lid can be cleaned in the same way as the casserole and the steel grille, but the
following precautions must be adopted:
•
Never pour cold water onto the lid when hot, or place it on cold and/or damp surfaces.
•
Never place the lid directly on lit burners, electric plates and/or ceramic hobs.
•
Use of the PAMI, EXSPLEND and PAIX accessories is recommended for cleaning.
