RIVETING THE TIMING CHAIN
Insert a new chain lock (C) into the ends of the new timing chain (D)
as shown.
Select pressure piece 8, 9 or 10 matching according to the timing
chain type, insert into the chain riveting tool (15) as shown and fix
using the mounting screw (16).
Select rivet piece 12 or 13 matching according to the timing chain
type and insert into the chain riveting tool (15) as shown.
Insert a new chain lock tab (E) into rivet pressure piece 12 or 13.
The rivet pressure piece is equipped with a magnet and keeps the
tab in position.
Position the chain riveting tool (15) such that the spacer rib of the
guide. Take care that the chain lock and the outer rib align. Screw in
the rivet spindle on the chain riveting tool (15) up until a fixed
resistance. When screwing in the spindle, take care that the chain
lock pins are positioned in the holes of the outer rib.
Remove the chain riveting tool (15).
Relocate rivet pressure piece 12 or 13 onto the rivet profile (arrow)
as shown in the figure. Position the rivet pressure piece 12 or 13
precisely in the middle on the chain lock pin and tighten the rivet
spindle, Tightening torque of the pressure spindle is approx. 30 to 35
Nm.
Remove the chain riveting tool (15).
Check the rivet connection (arrow), re-rivet if necessary.
