RT-ZC20 Measurement categories (Overvoltage categories) Notes on Safety Thank you for purchasing the R&S RT-ZC20 current probe. To obtain maximum performance from the device, please read this manual first, and keep it handy for future reference. Risk of physical injury This device is designed to comply with IEC 61010 Safety Standards, and has been thoroughly tested for safety prior to shipment.
  • Página 23: Precautions

® Notes on Safety R&S RT-ZC20 Precautions Higher-numbered categories correspond to electrical environments with greater momentary energy. So a measurement device designed for CAT III environments can endure greater momentary energy than a device designed for CAT II. Using a measurement device in an environment designated with a higher-numbered category than that for which the device is rated could result in a severe accident, and must be carefully avoided.
  • Página 24 Risk of fatal injury ● To avoid short circuits and potentially life-threatening hazards never attach the R&S RT-ZC20 to a circuit that operates at more than 300 V, or over bare conductors. ● When conductors being measured carry in excess of the safe voltage level...

  • Página 26 ® Notes on Safety R&S RT-ZC20 Precautions Shock hazard Do not allow the device to get wet, and do not take measurements with wet hands. This may cause an electric shock. To avoid electric shock when measuring live lines, wear appropriate protective gear, such as insulated rubber gloves, boots and a safety helmet.
  • Página 27 ® Notes on Safety R&S RT-ZC20 Precautions Risk of instrument damage ● To avoid damage to the device, protect it from vibration or shock during transport and handling, and be especially careful to avoid dropping. ● This device should be installed and operated indoors only, between 0 and 40°C (32 to 104°F ) and 80% RH or less.
  • Página 28 ® Notes on Safety R&S RT-ZC20 Precautions ● Keep the cables well away from heat sources, as bare conductors could be exposed if the insulation melts. Strong electromagnetic fields Correct measurement may be impossible in the presence of strong magnetic fields, such as near transformers and high-current conductors, or in the pres- ence of strong electromagnetic fields such as near radio transmitters.
