8 Establishing a Transmission Path
To establish a transmission path between a re-
ceiver unit and a transmitter, proceed as follows:
1) Adjust the radio frequency on the receiver unit
Make sure that the corresponding transmitter
is switched off If the RF bar graph indicates
radio reception, interference or signals from
other wireless transmitters are being received
In this case, set the receiver to a different radio
frequency
2) Switch on the transmitter and set the trans-
mitter to the radio frequency* of the receiver
The RF bar graph will indicate the strength of
the radio signal
(For information with regard to the other in-
dications on the display, please refer to the
overview in chapter 1 )
3) Speak / Sing into the microphone of the trans-
mitter or, in case of an instrument microphone,
play the instrument The AF bar graph will
indicate the volume level of the transmitter
If the volume is too high or too low, readjust
the audio sensitivity* of the transmitter ac-
cordingly For a pocket transmitter, the 20 dB
attenuation* can additionally be activated
Adjust the volume (
the output level of the receiver unit to the
subsequent audio unit
If no signal is received or if reception is poor, please
check the following items:
– Are the batteries of the transmitter discharged?
The display indicates the battery status of the trans-
mitter:

chapter 1
– Is the reception disturbed by objects in the trans-
mission path?
Make sure to keep the transmitter and the receiver
at a distance of 50 cm from metal objects and any
other sources of interference (e g electric motors
or fluorescent lamps)
– Is the reception improved when the receiving an-
tennas (4) are moved?
– Is the transmission power* of the transmitter too
low?
– Is the squelch value too high?
* Transfer to the transmitter via ultra-
sound (

tion is provided by the transmitter,
set directly on the transmitter

8.1 Function
(synchronizing receiver unit and transmitter)
The function
tings from each receiver unit to the corresponding
transmitter via ultrasound Ultrasound transmis-
sion will be performed separately for each of the
two receiver units The settings transferred de-
pend on how the function has been configured in
the menu of the receiver unit (
Note: On the two transmitters RU-850LTB / 5 and
RU-850LTH / 5, the settings can also be made via con-
trol buttons
Switch on the transmitter and place it at a dis-
tance of 20 – 80 cm (optimum distance: 30 cm)
from the receiver in such a way that the ultrasonic
sensor of the transmitter is vertical (±30°) to the
ultrasonic transmitter section
a hand-held microphone, screw off the sleeve of
the microphone until the ultrasonic sensor is not
covered any more Also see fig 4 below
To start the transmission, press the button
(2) of the corresponding receiver unit
The luminous ring of the button will flash rapidly
while the settings are being transferred Once
the transmission has been completed, the ring
will light continuously again If the ring changes
from rapid flashing to slow flashing, the trans-
mission has failed (To terminate flashing after a
failed transmission, briefly press one of the other
buttons )
