Stainless steel parts
The stainless steel parts (poles) are made of
high-quality polished steel (AISI 316). It is inevita-
14
ble that this surface will get scratched, even under
normal conditions of use.
Although stainless steel has an oxidisation layer of
its own that protects the steel from rusting, it is still
necessary to remove dirt and deposits regularly
with a dry cloth and stainless steel cleaner. This is
because the oxidisation layer cannot always be com-
pletely repaired if it is damaged. A maritime climate,
chlorine, acid rain or aggressive industrial or urban
surroundings take a heavy toll on the material. These
factors will determine how often the surface needs
to be cleaned, and suitable cleaning products are
readily available. We advise you to clean the surface
regularly. Suitable products for cleaning stainless
steel are widely available.
Anodised parts
The anodised parts (rotary knobs and handles) are
made of extruded and anodised aluminium. Anodi-
sation is a process that further thickens the layer of
aluminium oxide that protects the aluminium against
corrosion. We have chosen not to treat the alumi-
nium any further, because this does not improve its
life span but, above all, because it is always a very
environmentally unfriendly process. This means that
small scratches or marks that are inherent to the
production process may be visible on the profiles,
but these do not detract from the longevity of the
material in any way at all. Otherwise the profiles do
not require much maintenance. Simply cleaning
them with lukewarm water and a drop of detergent
once or twice a year is sufficient.
