3. Attach the back strap fi rst. This will help holding the shoulder in outward
rotation. The strap is semi-elastic and will not provide a fi rm fi xation point.
It will slow down the movement of the arm. It's therefore important to try out
the settings individually. Make sure that the strap attachment surface on the
belt is minimum 30 cm for a secure attachment.
4. Attach the front strap. This strap is important to not over-tighten as it might
turn the shoulder into inward medial rotation. Try out the settings individually.
Make sure that the strap attachment surface on the belt is minimum 30 cm
for a secure attachment.
5. Try the settings once in place. Adjust the straps if necessary and trim the
strap endings. To prevent the hook from grabbing textiles or causing skin
irritation, use the neoprene tubes to cover the exposed hook-straps.
D. To Restrict Shoulder Rotation & Abduction
1. Use the narrow strap. Attach the mid portion of the strap on the loop-piece
on the arm.
2. Take the front strap. Pull it back between the arm and body and attach it on
the back side of the chest belt.
3. Now take the back strap. Pull it back between the arm and body and attach it
on the front side of the chest belt.
4. Try out the settings individually and check that the desired restrictions are
reached. Make sure that the strap attachment surface on the belt is minimum
30 cm for a secure attachment.
5. To prevent the hook from grabbing textiles or causing skin irritation, use the
neoprene tubes to cover the exposed hook-straps.
E. Additional Joint Compression/Stability
The brace can also be used to provide additional individual stability to the shoulder
by using pads and surface straps. Similar effects like tape can be reached crossing
straps. The semi-elastic straps will transfer forces from the outside of the brace to the
inside. The silicone straps will transfer the force onto the skin area leading to increased
proprioception.
1. There are two pads; one banana shaped and one circular. They are made
in a fi rm foam material as a core and covered with slow-recovery foam to
absorb pressure effectively.
2. The banana shape is designed to be used on the front side of the shoulder.
The inside of the brace has a loop function that will grip the pad and secure
it. Position the pad over the required area and fold the brace over.
3. The circular shape is designed to be used on the back side of the shoulder
to support the scapula. The inside of the brace has a loop function that will
grip the pad and secure it. Position the pad over the required area and fold
the brace over.
