20. The blocfor™ 1.8 DUO EVO ESD self-retracting fall
arrester shall be hooked to the back anchorage point
of the harness with the M47 connector attached
to the end of the energy absorber. Connectors
attached to retractable lanyards must be hooked to
a structural anchor point. (Figure 6.a).
21. The blocfor™ 1.8 DUO EVO ESD self-retracting fall
arrester must never be connected to the harness
with any of the connectors attached to the ends of
the straps during use. The strap end connectors
may only be connected to the harness at fuse
attachment points e.g. X-PAD fuse anchors. (figure
6.d).
22. The blocfor™ 1.8 DUO EVO ESD self-retracting
fall arrester must never be hooked to the structure
with the M47 connector attached to the end of the
energy absorber. (figure 6.b).
23. The blocfor™ 1.8 DUO EVO ESD self-retracting
fall arrester must never be connected with the strap
connectors, one attached to the structure and the
other attached to the harness (figure 6.c).
24. The use of the blocfor™ 1.8 DUO EVO ESD may
require additional precautions to avoid the risk of
injury to the neck or head during a fall.

2.1. Definitions
"Supervisor": Person or department responsible for the
management and safety of use of the product described
in the manual.
"Technician": Qualified person in charge of the
maintenance operations described in who is competent
and familiar with the product.
"Operator": Operational personnel involved in the use
of the product as it is intended to be used.
"PPE": Personal protective equipment against falls from
height.
"Connector":
Connection
components of a fall-arrest system. This is EN 362
compliant.
"Fall-arrest harness": Body harness designed to arrest
falls. It consists of straps and buckles. It features fall-
arrest attachment points marked with an A if they can
be used alone, or marked with A/2 if they are to be used

"Self-retracting
automatic locking function and an automatic tensioning
and recoil system for the retractable lanyard.
"Retractable lanyard": Connecting element of a self-
retracting fall-arrest. It can be wire rope, webbing or
synthetic fibres depending on the device type.
"Maximum operating load": Maximum weight of the
fully dressed operator, equipped with their PPE, work
clothes, tools and components required for the job in
hand.
"Fall-arrest system": Equipment consisting of following
components:
– Fall-arrest harness.
– Self-retracting lifeline, energy absorber or mobile
fall-arrester on rigid anchor point, or fall-arrester on
flexible anchor.
– Anchoring.
– Linking component.
"Fall-arrest system component": Generic term
defining one of the following:
– Fall-arrest harness.
– Self-retracting lifeline, energy absorber or mobile
fall-arrester on rigid anchor point or fall-arrester on
flexible anchor.
– Anchoring.
– Linking component.
2.2. Pictograms
DANGER: Placed at the beginning of the line,
refers to instructions to avoid injury to operators,
including death, serious or minor injuries, and
damage to the environment.
IMPORTANT: Placed at the beginning of the line,
refers to instructions for avoiding a failure or
damage to equipment, but do not directly
endangering the life or health of the operator or that
of others, and/or not likely to cause environmental
damage.
NOTE: Placed at the beginning of the line, refers
to instructions to ensure the effectiveness and
convenience of installation, use or maintenance
operations.
