9 OPERATING THE SURROUND FUNCTIONS
• Surround sound can be achieved using the settings made upon shipment from the factory (the default settings), but to achieve even more
optimum surround sound, we recommend using the test tones to adjust the levels of the different channels, set the speaker distances (delay
time), etc.
For details, make the settings referring to page 39.
(1) Playing DVDs in the surround mode
• Refer to pages 14 and check that all the connections are correct.
• Operate the remote control unit at the "AMP" position.

Turn on the power.
• The display lights.
• The mute mode is set for several seconds after the power
is turned on to prevent noise from being produced.

Adjust the volume.
• When the input mode is set to "AUTO" and the surround
mode is set to "AUTO DECODE", depending on the signals
of the disc being played, Dolby Digital, DTS or PCM is
selected and the signals are automatically decoded and
played in the Dolby Digital, DTS or auto stereo mode.

to 39).
