Construction product stipulations
2.1
Properties and constituents
2.1.1 Materials
The materials to be used must correspond to annex 2.
2.1.2 Laminate construction
(1) Laminate construction is specified dependent on the required
wall thickness in annex 2, section 7.
(2) Containment devices with smaller dimensions than those
contained in appendix 1, or with dimensions between two sizes
given in this annex (intermediate sizes) are permissible if the wall
thicknesses that are valid for the next biggest containment device
are adopted.
2.1.3 Construction details
Construction details should be listed in accordance with annex 1.1
to 1.6.
2.1.4 Proof of stability
The stability of the containment device is proven by component
tests.
The permissible surface loading equals:
a) collection trays type 65 and type 150:
b) for the other collection trays
(with edge reinforcement):
2.1.5 Fire behaviour
(1) The material fibre glass reinforced reaction resin is, in the
thicknesses occurring in the application normally inflammable,
(class B2 according to DIN 4102-1
(2) The liquid-filled part of the collection tray, filled with the stored
medium, remains liquid-tight for 30 minutes when exposed to a
fire.
2.2
Manufacture, packaging, transport; storage and labelling
2.2.1 Manufacture
(3) Manufacture must be according to the manufacturing
description filed with the DIBt.
(4) The containment devices may only be manufactured in the
applicant's works at Weinstadt or Schnelldorf.
2.2.2 Packaging, transport, storage
Packaging, transport and storage must conform to Annex 3, Sec.2.
2.2.3 Labelling
The containment devices must be labelled with the conformity
mark (Ü-mark) in compliance with the-conformity labelling
directives of the German States. The mark may only be used if the
requirements of section 2.3 are fulfilled.
Moreover, the manufacturer of the containment devices must label
them clearly and permanently with the following details:
- Manufacturing number,
- Year of manufacture;
- Containment volume (according to section 5.1.3),
- Media group or media list according to section 1, dependent on
either the glass type and resin group
- Load bearing capacity when using gratings
(in accordance with section 2.1.4)

2.3
Proof of conformity
2.3.1 General
(1) Confirmation of the conformity of the containment device
with the conditions of this General Construction Inspection
Approval must be effected by the manufacturing factory with a
manufacturer's conformity declaration based on the factory's
own production controls and an initial test (see annex 4, section
2) of the containment device carried out by a test house that is
approved to carry out this work.
(2) A copy of the initial test report must also be given by the
manufacturer to the German Institute for Structural Engineering.
2.3.2 Manufacturer's internal production control
(1) The manufacturer must initiate and carry out internal
production control in the production plant. Manufacturer internal
production control means the required continual monitoring
of production which assures that the containment devices
manufactured in the factory comply with the conditions of this
General Construction Inspection Approval
(2) The internal production control should include at least the tests
listed in Annex 4, Sec.1.
(3) The results of the internal production control must be recorded
and analysed. The records must contain at least the following
data:
- Designation of the product produced or the starting material,
- Type of control or test,
- Date of manufacture and date of testing of the construction
product or the starting material or the constituent components,
- Results of the controls and tests and comparison with the
requirements,
- Signature of the person in charge of internal production control.
(4)Records must be retained for at least five years. On request
they are to be shown to the German Institute for Structural
Engineering and the highest responsible building supervisory
agency.
(5) If test results are unsatisfactory, the manufacturer must
immediately take the necessary steps to remedy the defect.
Construction products which do not meet the requirements must
be handled so that they cannot be interchanged with compliant
products. After the defect is remedied- the failed test must be
repeated, where this is technically feasible- in order to prove that
the fault has been cleared.
2.3.3 Initial testing of the containment device by a recognised test
house.
Within the framework of the initial test, the tests named in Annex
4, Sec. 2 are to be carried out.
3
Design and dimensioning stipulations
(1) The conditions for installing containment devices are to be
taken from water,-, health and safety and construction legislation.
(2) If gratings are used to form the bearing surface, then the
material used for their manufacture should be sufficiently resistive
to the medium intended to be stored.
(3) The containment devices must be protected against impact by
vehicles, for example by a protected installation, use of collision
guards, or installing in special areas.
