PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Thank you for purchasing these MICHELIN Easy Grip® EVOLUTION composite snow chains. Please read the instructions below before use. Failure to follow these
precautions and the instructions for use may cause severe injury and material damage.
IMPORTANT !
We cannot accept any responsibility for any damage that may result from failure to follow these precautions. Always start by checking that your vehicle can be
fitted with snow chains / removable anti-slip devices, after allowing for the size of the wheels and tyres fitted (refer to the vehicle owner's manual provided by
the manufacturer).
1. When preparing to travel in winter, we recommend that you practice fitting your MICHELIN Easy Grip® EVOLUTION composite snow chains on your vehicle,
in dry road conditions, so that you will know what to do on a snow covered road.
2. Fit your snow chains to tyres that are in good condition, as recommended by the manufacturer and with sizes that match those shown on the product usage
label. Always match the product with the exact size of the tyres fitted to the vehicle.
3. The way the vehicle operates may change when using composite snow chains. When composite snow chains are fitted to the driving wheels, you may
notice a difference in grip between the front and the rear of the vehicle, increasing the risk of slipping. So always take extra care when driving a vehicle fitted
with anti-slip equipment. Drive smoothly, avoiding any sudden acceleration and braking.
4. Only use composite snow chains on snow and/or ice covered roads or ground and not for pulling, lifting or any other purpose.
5. Carefully follow the instructions when fitting or removing.
6. For your own safety, we recommend that you wear a fluorescent high visibility vest when fitting snow chains to your vehicle or when removing them. Refer
to highway code recommendations in the event of a vehicle breakdown.
7. Fit the snow chains to a parked and secured vehicle, in line with the instructions for installation. Always fit the snow chains in pairs on an axle and at least
on the driving wheels. On 4x4 (four-wheel drive) vehicles, it is preferable to fit two sets of composite snow chains.
8. Always visually inspect the snow chains before installation.
9. Those parts of the product in contact with the road are subject to wear. Should a composite snow chain break, remove it immediately to avoid damaging
the vehicle. If more than three consecutive links tear, the composite chain should no longer be used. MICHELIN Easy Grip® EVOLUTION composite snow
chains cannot be repaired.
10. Tyre pressures should match the recommendations made by the vehicle manufacturer.
Please respect the traffic rules of the country in which you are driving. When towing, always comply with highway code requirements.
Subject to technical modifications.
Compliant with French regulations: Ministry of Transport Act of 18 July 1985 on ANTI-SLIP EQUIPMENT FITTED TO TYRES.
FITTING AND REMOVING :
It is essential to fully comply with the instructions for fitting and removing the chains as shown on the plasticised instruction sheet. Users must carefully comply
with all of the recommendations for use. Failure to do so means that they will be solely liable for any damage caused to the product, the vehicle or to other people.
We strongly recommend performing a trial run at home before using them for the first time.
Pay attention to fingers, hands and hair when fitting and removing your snow chains to avoid any risk of injury. • Use the gloves provided when fitting and
removing your snow chains. • Keep away from the wheel as soon as it is fitted with snow chains and when in motion. • If the vehicle is fitted with an anti-slip
system (ETS, ASR, ESP, DSC, etc.) do not disable it. • Park the vehicle in a suitable safe location and apply the parking brake. • Place the warning triangle 30 to
100 metres behind the vehicle. • Wear a fluorescent high visibility vest, day or night, so that other road users can see you.
FITTING :
Follow the instructions on the plasticised instruction sheet.
Start off slowly and accelerate progressively. MICHELIN Easy Grip® EVOLUTION snow chains will centre themselves perfectly after a few hundred metres. •
Make sure that the product is in place properly after travelling some 200 metres. • Never exceed 40 km/h on a fully snow covered road and moderate your
speed on roads that are partially clear of snow. • Avoid driving on clear asphalt roads for extended periods of time as this may damage the product. • When
in use, regularly check the centring of your MICHELIN Easy Grip® EVOLUTION composite snow chains especially after making a U-turn or driving through deep
snow. • Avoid rough starting, acceleration and braking. • Check the fitting and condition of your composite snow chains after driving for 20 kilometres and
also after emergency braking or after contact with road borders. If your composite snow chains are not removed on roads that are clear of snow, they must
also be checked after driving no more than 5 kilometres. • Before prolonged parking, always remove your composite snow chains to stop them freezing onto
your vehicle's wheels making their removal harder.
REMOVAL : follow the instructions on the plasticised instruction sheet.
After removal : Let your composite snow chains dry after use before returning them to their carrier bag with the instruction sheet. • Care : Store your composite
snow chains in a dry location and protect them from any contact with chemicals (petrol, acid, heat). • You can wash them with fresh water after use. Never
machine wash. Never wash or store them at temperatures in excess of 50°C.
Retain all information.
