Handling and Operation
Adding Coffee Beans
1. Remove the lid (1) from the grinding container (14).
2. Fill the grinding container with coffee beans (approx. 250 g). Do not overfi ll it!
3. Place the lid back on the grinding container.
When you switch to another type of coffee, there will still be coffee powder from the pre-
vious type in the grinder shaft (13). The grinder shaft may need to be cleaned beforehand
(see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter – "Cleaning the Grinder Shaft").
Setting the Grinding Fineness
Twist the grinding container (14) to the right or left until the scale mark on the grinding container
points to the position with the grinding fi neness you want on the display (12) (Picture B).
35 different grinding levels can be set:
Level 1 – 14 (Fine) – ideal for manually brewed "Turkish" coffee, espresso portafi lter machines or
espresso makers
Level 15 – 25 (Medium) – ideal for manual fi lter coffee and for fi lter coffee machines
Level 26 – 35 (Coarse) – ideal for use with French press or cold brew coffee
When you switch to another grinding strength, there will still be coffee powder with the
previous grinding strength in the grinder shaft (13). The grinder shaft may need to be
cleaned beforehand (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter – "Cleaning the Grinder
Shaft").
Grinding the Coffee Beans
1. Make sure that the collecting container (3) is placed correctly under the coffee powder out-
let (7). The lid can be placed on, but the silicone stopper must then be open!
If you want to transfer the coffee powder directly into a portafi lter, slide the portafi lter holder
onto the mount (8) on the motor unit (9) (Picture C). You do not then need the collecting
container.
2. Make sure that there are suffi cient coffee beans in the grinding container (14) and fi ll it if
necessary (see "Adding Coffee Beans").
3. Set the grinding fi neness you want (see "Setting the Grinding Fineness").
