Installing the automatic feeder at the aquarium
The holder clamp (6) can be installed to the vertical glass edge
of an aquarium by means of the adjustment screws (7, 8).
While installing, make sure the food container is positioned
horizontally above the water surface and that there is no
obstacle underneath the food delivery opening within a delivery
track of about 20 cm (8 in.).
Furthermore, the automatic feeder should be attached in a
way that it cannot fall into the water.
The included pedestal (13) with integrated funnel allows
placing the appliance on an even surface (5, 7a).
When using the automatic feeder with the pedestal, the latter
should be placed in a way that only the funnel is above the
water and pushing the appliance into the water accidentally
can be ruled out.
Filling with food
First clean and dry your hands carefully. Push the food amount
adjustor (5) to the end so the food delivery opening (12) is
completely closed. Open the lid (4) for filling the food granules
into the food container (3). Make sure no water gets on the
food while filling.
Close the lid so the tetragonal pin on the food container rests
in the gap marked with an arrow on the lid (3, 2). Push the
filled food container onto the rotating shaft of the automatic
feeder. The food delivery opening (12) is supposed to direct
upwards in the rest position. Open the food amount adjustor
(5) until the desired food amount delivery is achieved (see
"Adjusting the food amount").
In case the sera XS-Feeder is operated on the pedestal, the
pedestal must first be removed so the food container can be
separated from the appliance and filled.
The general rule is: The higher the density of a food, the more
food per feeding event is delivered. The more even the shape
of the food, the less food amount deviance, and the better the
total emptying of the food container.
Different food components can de-blend due to food container
rotation while feeding. It is therefore generally not advisable
to combine food of different shapes and sizes.
Maintenance and cleaning
The appliance can be dismantled for cleaning purposes. To
do so, open the battery compartment lid (2) and remove the
batteries from the battery compartment (9). Remove the food
container (3) and then open the lid of the food container (4), if
desired clean the food container with a moist soft cloth (do
not use vinegar or other detergents!). Let dry thoroughly after
cleaning before the container can be closed again with the lid.
The batteries can be inserted again after cleaning and drying
are finished.
After a longer time of use the automatic feeder should at least
be cleaned briefly. Remove the lid (4), take out remaining food
or knock it out gently. Please also remove possibly remaining
food in the food delivery opening.
When using the pedestal, its funnel should be cleaned
regularly, especially if you wish to feed finely grained granulated
food.
Batteries
2 pcs. LR6/1.5V/AA batteries are being used for operating the
sera XS-Feeder.
Check voltage and polarity before putting the batteries in.
Check regularly whether the batteries should be replaced as
to avoid operation failure or leaking batteries.
It is generally advisable to replace the batteries after 6 months
at the latest. Always replace both batteries together.
Remove BOTH batteries from the battery compartment (9)
before a longer non-usage period as to prevent the risk of
leaking batteries.
