Switching On and Off
To switch on the measuring tool, press the on/off button (8) or the measuring button
(4). When switching on the measuring tool, the laser beam is not switched on.
To switch off the measuring tool, press and hold the on/off button (8)
If no button on the measuring tool is pressed for approx. five minutes, then the measur-
ing tool will automatically switch itself off to preserve battery life.
Measuring process
Once switched on, the measuring tool is in the length measurement
function. Other measuring functions can be set by repeatedly pressing
the (3) button or the navigation buttons (7) [+] or (2) [–] (see "Measur-
ing functions", page 24).
Once the measurement function is selected by pressing the measuring
button (4), the laser beam is switched on.
Once the measuring tool has been switched on, the rear edge of the measuring tool is se-
lected as the reference level for measurement. To change the reference level, select (see
"Selecting the reference level (see figures A–B)", page 23).
Place the measuring tool at the line you want to measure from (e.g. wall) with the refer-
ence level selected.
To initiate the measurement, briefly press the measuring button (4). Afterwards, the
laser beam is switched off. To switch the laser beam on again, briefly press the measur-
ing button (4). To initiate a further measurement, briefly press the measuring button (4)
again.
Do not direct the laser beam at persons or animals and do not stare into the laser
u
beam yourself (even from a distance).
In the continuous measurement function, measurement will begin after the first press of
the measuring button (4).
The measured value typically appears within 0.5 seconds and no later than 4 seconds.
The duration of the measurement depends on the distance, the lighting conditions and
the reflective properties of the target surface.
If no measurement has been performed within approx. 20 seconds of aim being taken,
the laser beam is switched off automatically to preserve battery life.
Selecting the reference level (see figures A–B)
You can choose between two different reference levels for the measurement:
– The rear edge of the measuring tool (e.g. when placing against walls).
– The front edge of the measuring tool (e.g. when measuring from a table edge).
