Probable Causes

Corrective Action

Plug in the pump.
Remove the float access cover. Clean float.
Refer to
"Float Maintenance" on page
Replace pump.
Replace pump.

Replace pump.
Shut power off for approximately 1 minute, then
restart. Repeat several times to clear air from pump. If
this does not resolve the problem, clean the vent hole.

Multiple or larger pump required.
Thaw hose or replace hose.
Check rated pump performance.
Pull pump and clean.
Shut power off for approximately 1 minute, then
restart. Repeat several times to clear air from pump. If
this does not resolve the problem, clean the vent hole.

Check outlet tubing to ensure that it is not kinked or
blocked. Clear blocked tubing of slime and debris.
Clean inlet and outlet piping.
Thaw hose or replace hose.
Check rated pump performance.
Check that supply voltage matches nameplate rating.
Pull pump and clean. Check pipe for scale or corrosion.
Replace discharge hose with larger diameter hose.
Install a check valve in the discharge line.
Inspect check valve for correct operation.
Replace pump.
Clean screen and basket.
Refer to

Allow pump to cool.
Inspect all electrical connections and reset the GFCI.
Pull pump and clean. Check pipe for scale or corrosion.
Shut power off for approximately 1 minute, then
restart. Repeat several times to clear air from pump. If
this does not resolve the problem, clean the vent hole.
