Due to the small size of the sensor, the ATEX identification is located on a cable
flag.
Danger of an ignition source due to impermissible operating conditions,
connections, and parameters!
Operating the sensor under impermissible operating conditions can result in
an explosion.
1. Observe the permissible operating conditions, in particular the ambient
temperature and the mechanical protection for the device.
2. The ATEX sensor is only intended for complete installation in suitable T-
slots.
3. Note the limited temperature range for ATEX conditions.
4. Do not disconnect the plug connectors and the connecting cable from the
sensor if it is under voltage.
5. Only use connecting cables that are approved for explosion protection
zones.
6. Observe the relevant Ex guidelines for installation, maintenance, and re-
pair, especially EN 60079-14.
The NAMUR versions of the magnetic cylinder sensors are intrinsically
safe electrical equipment according to the NAMUR standard EN
60947-5-6, which may be operated on isolating amplifiers with Ex-con-
formity certification.

before installation.
5.1 Installing sensors
Any mounting orientation may be used.
Always observe the following points for installation and connection of the sensor:
1. Install the sensor protected against mechanical impact and UV light (depend-
ing on the requirements/operating conditions).
2. Install lines with protection and provide for strain relief.
3. Observe the maximum power data (U
4. Observe the sensor porting configuration.
5. Do not connect or separate the lines or plugs under voltage.
NAMUR sensors are to be regarded as passive devices and therefore re-
quire no further protective circuits.
