Adjust the tonearm attachment angle and
secure the VTA elevator.
o When the arm is removed from the arm rest and moved to the
innermost groove of a record, rotate the entire arm with the
VTA elevator to a position where the arm stays on the arm lifter.
o Insert an included nut tightening wrench into the hole on
the side, and tighten it securely.
6
Connect the output cable.
Align the guide pin of the output cable with the groove of
the 5-pin plug on the bottom of the arm, and insert the cable
completely.
If the connector does not have a guide and is difficult to insert,
loosen the arm base attachment thumbscrew once, disconnect
the arm base from the Grandioso T1 and connect the cable.
Then, reattach the arm base to the Grandioso T1.

Install the cartridge in the headshell.
50 mm
Stylus tip position
o Install the cartridge in the headshell so that the stylus tip
position conforms to the dimension in the illustration.
Install the cartridge so that it is parallel to the side of the
headshell.
ATTENTION
Use cartridge attachment screws that are made of nonmagnetic
material. Using screws that are magnetic could result in the
screws being drawn toward the magnets, causing damage to
the stylus.
o Connect the terminals of the headshell lead wires to the car-
tridge pins.
The signals and colors of the shell lead wires are as follows.
Left channel +: white, left channel −: blue,
Right channel +: red, right channel −: green
8
Install the headshell.
Insert the headshell on the end of the tonearm and turn the lock
nut to secure it in place.

9
Balance the level of the arm.
o Set the tracking force gauge to 0.
o Loosen the main weight attachment screw.
o Remove the stylus protection cover, and remove the arm
from the armrest.
o Move the main weight backward and forward, adjusting it
to a position that inclines the arm slightly from level toward
the cartridge end. Then, tighten the main weight attachment
screw.
10
Apply tracking force.
Turn the tracking force gauge to increase the tracking force. The
value inscribed on the scale will be applied to the stylus tip.
Up to 5 g of tracking force can be applied. Even though there are
steps at 0.25g increments, the applied tracking force can also be
set to values between steps.

11
Adjust the arm height.
Lower the stylus tip to the surface of a record, and adjust the
height of the arm so that it is parallel with the record surface.
Then, tighten the 2 arm attachment screws. If the amount of
adjustment is 10 mm or less, the elevator height adjustment
knob can be used to adjust the height. If the amount of adjust-
ment is more than 10 mm, change the height that the arm is
attached to the elevator.
The elevator height adjustment knob can be used to adjust the
height even when a record is playing.
ATTENTION
o Do not install the arm attachment screws tightly. Doing so
could interfere with the movement of the elevator.
o If the height adjustment knob cannot be turned within the
movable range of the elevator, do not try to force it to turn
further.
