Instructions for Use for the 1-KAB2139-xx Measurement Cable
1. Safety symbols and identification on the machine
WARNING
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury or damage to the HV measurement cable.

injury. Caution should be exercised by persons who perform any work using this product.
2. Important basic information
You will be liable for any improper use.
The HV measurement cable has been designed and manufactured in accordance with the currently applicable
rules of technology, after the most current standards to be observed and other technical specifications have been
carefully selected. Accordingly, the HV measurement cable is state-of-the-art and provides maximum safety.
Nevertheless, hazards can still occur if the cable is used improperly.
• Liability for the 1-KAB2139-xx HV measurement cable passes to the owner or operating company in each case
when any person uses or repairs the cable improperly or when the HV measurement cable is manipulated in
any way that does not corresponds to its intended use.
• Do not use the HV measurement cable unless it is in perfect condition.
• We reserve the right to make any technical changes or modifications with regard to the further development and
enhancement of our products at any time. No such change, modification, error, or typographical error shall give
rise to any claim for damages.
• HBK shall not be liable for any error due to any failure to observe the instructions specified in these instructions
for use.
3. Safety notices
WARNING
Every person entrusted with performing any work using the HV measurement cable must
have read and understood these instructions for use.
• Do not use the HV measurement cable unless as intended.
• Do not start any operation using the HV measurement cable when one or more of its parts (e.g., cable,
connectors) have been damaged, when it does not function perfectly, or when any damage is seen or
suspected to exist (e.g., due to damage in transit).
• No repair of the HV measurement cable is permissible.
• During use, route the HV measurement cable so as to avoid creating any tripping hazard. Ensure that the HV
measurement cables does not pass through the area of any moving part.
• Before connecting the HV measurement cable, ensure that the anticipated readings are within the limit values
covered by the HV measurement cable.
• Do not convert or modify the HV measurement cable.
• Keep the HV measurement cable in clean and proper condition. Remove any dirt and protect the HV
measurement cable against mechanical damage.
• Protect the HV measurement cable against humidity.
HINT/TIP
Any tampering with the HV measurement cable will be considered a willful act if an accident
occurs. Please keep these safety notices in a safe place.

GEN series English 3.1 Intended use WARNING The HV measurement cable has to be used exclusively for electrical measurements for a voltage up to a maximum of 1000 V RMS or, respectively, 1500 V DC. The anticipated measuring current must not exceed 5 A. Connect the brown, grey and black shrouded banana plugs on KAB2139 to the artificial star adapter. 2.
