Operation
Set up the tool and work area according to these
procedures to reduce the risk of injury and tool
damage.
Keep your fingers and hands away from the
tool head during the operating cycle. Your
fingers or hands can be crushed, fractured, or
amputated if they become caught in the tool head
or between the tool head and other objects.
Use proper die, connector, and cable combi-
nations, improper combinations can result in
an incomplete crimp. An incomplete crimp can
cause a fire.
Do not use on live electrical lines, this tool is
not insulated. When using this unit on or near
energized electrical lines, use proper personal
protective equipment.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. This enables better control
of the power tool in unexpected situations.
This tool is equipped with a pressure sensor that alerts
the user of an incomplete crimp. If the tool is manually
retracted before completion of a crimp, the red LED and
an audible beep will be active for 2 seconds.
If the tool is unable to reach the required crimp force,
the red LED, work light, and an audible beep will pulse
until after the trigger is released.
In cold weather, allow the power source to run (idle) for
a few minutes to warm the hydraulic fluid. Actuating the
tool intermittently will reduce the time required to warm
the fluid to an efficient operating temperature.
Crimping
1. Insert the cable fully into the connector. Make sure
the cable is properly prepared per connector manu-
facturer's instructions.
2. If open, close the flip-top head and engage the pull
pin. Make sure the pull pin is fully engaged
3. Insert the connector in the tool head and align
where the crimp will be located with the center line
of the tool.
4. Depress the trigger to advance the ram. Hold until
the ram automatically begins to retract.
If the crimping tool does not automatically retract,
the crimp is incomplete. It is normal for the battery
load display to light at both the beginning and near
the end of the crimping cycle.

5. Repeat the cycle until the recommended number of
crimps is reached. For a UL or cUL classified crimp,
complete the number of crimps specified under
"Connector & Die Selection".
Pay attention to the direction and spacing of the
crimps for best results (Fig.3).

To stop the ram from returning fully when automatically
retracting, depress the trigger quickly and release. This
activation will close the retraction valve and stop the
retraction motion. Depressing the trigger will cause the
ram to advance from that stopped position. Pushing the
retract button will open the retraction valve and com-
plete retraction of the ram.
After completing the last crimp on an aluminum connec-
tor, wipe off the excess oxide inhibitor.
