If petrol overflows, immediately clean any spilled fuel.
The combustion engine should only be switched on
after the surface dirty with petrol is cleaned. Any
ignition attempt shall be avoided until the petrol vapors
have volatilized (dry with cloth).
If the petrol has come into contact with clothing, it must
be changed.
Auger transport
Carry the auger only when the engine is off. Before
moving it, stop the engine and wait for the drilling
accessories to stop completely.
Always transport the equipment when the engine is
cold and without fuel. This prevents fuel spillage during
transport.
Always fasten the equipment when transporting it and
install the drill guard.
Before you start working
Make sure that the equipment is only used by people
who are familiar with the instruction manual.
Before starting the auger, check the fuel leak
tightness system, particularly visible parts such as
tank, tank cap, gaskets and carburetor primer bulb. In
the event of leakage or damage, do not start the
combustion engine. Have the auger repaired by an
official dealer.
Pay attention to the area where the device will be used
and check for obstacles (rocks, tree stumps, roots,
trenches, etc.), objects (coiled wires, metal parts) or
loose stones. Not being possible to remove these
objects or obstacles, mark them so that they do not
come into contact with the drilling accessories when
using the machine.
Before start-up:
▪ Carry out an inspection to ensure that the unit is
properly assembled and that safety issues and
performance are ensured;
▪ Check if the spark plug cap is connected to the spark
plug;
32
▪ Check if the safety devices are in good conditions and
working properly. Never use the equipment if the
safety devices are missing, damaged or worn out;
▪ Check that the fastening accessories are in good
condition and properly assembled;
▪ Replace damaged parts, as all other worn and
damaged ones;
▪ After assembling the accessories and before using
the device, you must run a test in maximum speed at
no load for a certain time. Check for misalignments
in the moving parts or any other condition that may
affect the operation of the auger. Check that all
moving parts rotate smoothly and without unusual
noises;
▪ Perform all adjustments and work necessary. If you
have any questions or difficulties, contact your VITO
official dealer.
▪ Observe the local regulations on the hours when it is
allowed to use tools with a combustion engine and
the permitted noise level.
While operating
Keep third parties away from the auger's area of
operation, at least 15m away. Never work while
animals or people, especially children, are in the danger
zone. During work, dirt and stones can be projected at
high speed which can hurt you.
Keep the safety distance from objects (vehicles and
glasses) to avoid property damage.
When working two or more people simultaneously in
the same area, safety distances must be maintained to
prevent accidents and injuries.
Work only in daylight or with good artificial lighting. Do
not use the appliance at night or when it is not possible
to have a clear view of the work area.
Never use
the auger with adverse metrological
conditions such as dense fog, rain or strong wind,
storms or lightning.
