Assembly, set-up
Push the pipe onto the base (Fig.1), using a lubricant, if necessary (e.g. Vaseline
or similar). Place the filter basket over the pipe and push the float ring over the top
(Fig.2). Cut the special stepped hose tail to the required diameter (Fig.3) and
screw it into the base of the skimmer (Fig.4).
Install the skimmer in the water near the edge of the pond i.e. in main wind
direction. Ensure that it is standing on a horizontal surface (Fig.5). IMPORTANT!
Weigh down the base with pebbles to prevent it from floating up. Push
the hose onto the special stepped hose tail and secure using a hose clip. Connect
the Skimmer to the suction connection of your pump (Fig. 7). In case of pumps
Aquamax remove filter housing, which after that will become redundant.
Attention!
Always disconnect the pump from the power supply prior to performing
assembly work!
Commissioning, operation
Ensure that the float ring is not resting on the filter basket. The pump may run dry
and be damaged. As soon as the pump is switched on, the pump will drag the
float ring slightly under the surface of the water.
Please take into consideration that the depth of the water in your garden pond
usually varies. Always install the Skimmer so that the float ring can move up or
down depending on the depth of the water (Fig.6). Cut the pipe to the required
length, if necessary.
Note:
If the pipe is too short, it can be replaced by a standard drain pipe DN
150!
In winter
Take the Skimmer out of the pond during the winter months, otherwise the
skimmer may be destroyed by temperatures below zero.
Cleaning
When there is an excessive quantity of dirt particles in the filter basket, the
suction effect of the skimmer decreases. When this happens, disconnect the
pump from the power supply and empty the filter basket by lifting it out of the pipe
together with the float ring.
