GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING:

1. Work Area
(1) Keep your w ork area clean and w ell lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas invite
accidents.
(2) Do not operate pow er tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Pow er tools create sparks w hich m ay ignite the
dust of fum es.
(3) Keep bystanders children, and visitors aw ay w hile operating a pow er tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2. Electrical Safety
(1) Double Insulated tools are equipped w ith a polarized plug (one blade is w ider than
the other.) This plug w ill fit in a polarized outlet only one w ay. If the plug does not
fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any w ay. Double

(2) Avoid body contact w ith grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
(3) Do not expose pow er tools to rain or w et conditions. Water entering a pow er tool
w ill increase the risk of electric shock.
(4) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from
a receptacle. Keep cord aw ay from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace
damaged cords immediately. Dam aged cords increase the risk of electric shock.
(5) When operating a pow er tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked "W-
A" or "W". These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric
shock.
3. Personal Safety
(1) Stay alert, w atch w hat you are doing and use common sense w hen operating a
pow er tool. Do not use tool w hile tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or
medication. A m om ent of inattention w hile operating pow er tools m ay result in
serious personal injury.
(2) Dress properly. Do not w ear loose clothing or jew elry. Contain long hair. Keep
your hair, clothing and gloves aw ay from moving parts. Loose clothes, jew elry, or
long hair can be caught in m oving parts.
(3) Avoid accidental starting. Be sure sw itch is off before plugging in. Carrying tools
w ith your finger on the sw itch or plugging in tools that have the sw itch on invites
accidents.
