Safety Guide
RISKS OF SCALDS OR BURNS FROM HOT / COLD FLUIDS OR SURFACES
The TA527 temperature probe measures temperatures from –40 to 125 °C. Exposure to
environmental and surface temperatures below 0 °C and above 43 °C can cause serious injury or
death.
Use suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) for eyes and skin when working around hot or
cold fluids and surfaces.
Wait for cold fluids, surfaces and probes to warm up to a safe temperature (> 0 °C) before
handling or having contact with them. Safely remove pressure from systems containing hot
fluids before accessing them to measure temperature. Wait for hot fluids, surfaces and probes
to cool to a safe temperature (< 43 °C) before handling or having contact with them.
RISKS OF EXPOSURE TO HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
Risk of skin contact disease such as severe dermatitis or skin cancer when directly measuring
oil or coolant temperature.
Use suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) for eyes and skin. Clean hands and skin and
use skin creams before and after contact with these hazardous substances.
